Chapter 1
Oh the joys of love she thought to herself. Jade was on her bed simming through the photos of her and her lover on her iphone. Jade and Josh have been dating since they were about twenty and feel in love through meeting each other thanks to mutual friends some years ago. She thought she was in love at 24 She thought they were in love. Big mistake. This was her first time experiencing what her role models described as ‘love’ but boy was it far from, only a figment of her imagination one would say because love could never end with such horrible pain if it was true and honest. Could it?
Josh bought flowers for Valentines day each year, like the perfect enemy in disguise. He bought her expensive gifts like the perfect manipulator in disguise. He romanced her and made her feel safe like the perfect hitman in disguise. This man was calculated and used his financial gains and sweet talk as master weapons of destruction. By the time they moved in together, she was pregnant. And no soon did his demon arise. Jade was forced to go to battle for her peace, safety and freedom from the very man she thought loved her.
Jade grew up in a Christian family. With her mother, father, brother and sister, Jade lived a happy and fulfiling life in Canada growing up. She was deemed fortunate to have a Dad who owns successful private businesses in his home country because this made him financially wealthy. Jade’s mom never had to work and did not work until all the children were old enough to be left in their 3-bedroom, 3 story home alone. Jade was also gifted and was one of the top students in her class every year growing up unlike her two siblings who never seemed to performed well in any subject in school over the years. Jade was the prize of the family, she was often boasted about by her parents to their relatives and friends unlike her siblings. She had a sheltered life where she mostly studied, read books and played video games at home and rarely went out with friends thanks to her strict parents. However, she did have occasional ‘crushes’ as she became older, but she never really cared for relationships. Jade had her first boyfriend at 17 who was also her best friend but eventually left her for an older woman after one year together. This was devasting to Jade but only for a short period. She quickly moved on and found peace in being independent. She worked 2 steady jobs while completing her degree in a career she always wanted.
