Capítulo 1

Después de los eventos del “Juego del Calamar”, Seong Gi-hun (Gihun) decide buscar respuestas sobre In-ho (el Líder) y su hermano Jun-ho. Finalmente, encuentra el escondite de In-ho en una lujosa villa oculta en las montañas. Para su sorpresa, In-ho lo recibe con una actitud inesperadamente protectora y consentidora, tratándolo como si fuera su hermano menor malcriado.

Interior de la villa de In-ho, una habitación cálida con muebles elegantes. Una chimenea crepita suavemente mientras Gihun, sentado en un enorme sillón de cuero, cruza los brazos con molestia. In-ho, vestido con un traje negro impecable, lo observa con una leve sonrisa, sosteniendo una copa de vino.

Gihun: Frunce el ceño y resopla. “No me gusta cómo me miras, In-ho. ¿De qué te ríes?”

In-ho: Bebe un sorbo de vino y se encoge de hombros con un aire relajado. “De ti, por supuesto. Te ves como un niño que ha perdido su juguete favorito.”

Gihun: Bufa y se hunde más en el sillón. “¡Claro! Porque mi vida es un chiste para ti. Me pasé meses buscándote, esperando obtener respuestas y lo único que recibo es un trato como si fuera un crío malcriado.”

In-ho: Camina lentamente hacia Gihun, apoyando una mano en el respaldo del sillón y mirándolo con diversión. “Bueno, actúas como un niño. Te la pasas quejándote, te niegas a aceptar la realidad y sigues aferrado a ideales que ya no existen.”

Gihun: Cruza los brazos con un mohín infantil. “Eso no es cierto.”

In-ho: Sonríe y se inclina un poco, su voz adquiere un tono ligeramente burlón pero suave. “Claro que lo es. Mírate, haciendo pucheros como si te hubieran quitado un caramelo.”

Gihun abre la boca para protestar, pero se detiene cuando In-ho, con una calma que lo exaspera, le extiende un pequeño pastelito en un platillo de porcelana.

Gihun: Lo mira con recelo. “¿Qué es esto?”

In-ho: “Un pastelito de fresa. Dulce y esponjoso. Sé que te gustan.”

Gihun: Lo toma con sospecha y muerde con cautela, sin querer admitir que está delicioso. “Esto no cambia nada, ¿sabes?”

In-ho: Se sienta a su lado y le revuelve el cabello con un gesto fraternal. “No tiene que cambiar nada. Pero prefiero verte disfrutando un pastelito en lugar de estar con esa cara larga.”

Gihun: Se aparta, sacudiendo la cabeza con indignación. “¡No soy un niño, In-ho!”

In-ho: Con una sonrisa paciente, toma un mechón del cabello rojo de Gihun y lo enreda juguetonamente en sus dedos. “Oh, claro que no. Eres un hombre adulto… que está en mi casa, comiendo pastelito, haciendo pucheros y dejándose consentir como un pequeño príncipe.”

Gihun: Se sonroja levemente y aparta la vista, mascullando entre dientes. “No me estoy dejando consentir…”

In-ho: Le da unas palmaditas en la cabeza y se recuesta en el sillón con aire satisfecho. “Por supuesto que no.”

El silencio se instala entre ellos, solo interrumpido por el crepitar de la chimenea. Gihun, aunque avergonzado, sigue comiendo el pastelito en pequeños bocados, mientras In-ho lo observa con una expresión mezcla de diversión y ternura.

Gihun: Murmura en voz baja. “Está bueno…”

In-ho: Le pasa otro sin decir nada.

Y aunque Gihun siga protestando, en el fondo sabe que, por alguna razón, ese extraño y exasperante trato de “princesita consentida” le resulta más reconfortante de lo que quiere admitir.
