Summary

Princess Lilibeth always knew that her future wasn’t entirely her own. Even before she was born, her parents had arranged a marriage for her. And as their only child, her choice of husband would affect not only her, but the entire kingdom. At the age of five, four princes were chosen to become her potential husbands, and she grew up alongside them inside the palace. Over time, they became as close as family, and each prince offered something different—protection, loyalty, a playful charm, or sweet tenderness. As the wedding drew closer, Lilibeth found herself pushing back against the expectations placed on her. She argued with her mother, resisted the lessons meant to prepare her for being queen, and tried to ignore the future everyone else seemed ready to accept. It didn’t help that the princes had always been part of her life, and the idea of marrying one of them felt impossible. Especially when some still felt more like brothers than potential husbands. With the kingdom watching and her parents holding the final decision, Lilibeth faced a future she wasn’t sure she wanted. And a choice she wasn’t sure she was ready to make.

A Royal Notice to the Reader

A Royal Notice to the Reader

This is an interactive story, where you, the reader, will help decide what happens.

By order of the Crown of Sylvaris, Princess Lilibeth is to be married. Four princes have been chosen as her potential husband, and by the end of this story, one of them will become not only her husband but the heir to her father’s throne.

This is not a “why choose” tale. Only one prince will be chosen!

However, the path to that decision will not be made by the court alone. Your voice will help guide it.

Royal Participation in Courtly Encounters

At certain moments throughout the story, the court will look to you to decide which prince appears in a scene. When these moments arise, you will be invited to cast your vote in the comments.

For example, the princess wandered into the gardens, seeking a moment of peace and quiet. But along the way, she will come across one of the princes sitting alone by the fountain.

Once you are given the scene, four comments will be placed at the bottom of the chapter, each one presenting the name of one of the princes, like so:

-Kase

-Spence

-Ashwin

-Micah

You may cast your vote for the prince you wish to see by liking the comment. Whichever receives the most support before the stated deadline will appear in that scene.

Please be advised that these voting periods will remain open for a few days, up to a week.

The Crown’s Greatest Decision

The most important vote will be held in a royal poll, pinned upon my Inkitt wall. This poll asks:

Which prince should Princess Lilibeth marry?

You may vote at any time and change your vote as the story progresses. The poll will remain open until shortly before the Choosing Ceremony. At which time, the poll will be closed, and the results will be recorded before it’s deleted from my wall. The winning prince will remain a surprise until revealed within the story.

Remember, by participating, you are not only choosing Lilibeth’s husband—you are helping decide who will become the next king of Sylvaris. Consider carefully who would best stand beside the princess, and who would best rule the kingdom.

Also pinned on my Inkitt wall, beneath the poll, you will find my artwork for the main characters of this story. These may aid you in forming your decision.

Court Schedule

New chapters for Her Dragons will be released on Sunday and Thursday. Additional updates may appear on Tuesdays when possible. As this story relies on the reader’s decisions, some updates must be written after votes are cast.

A Final Note from the Crown

To take part in these decisions, it is helpful to read chapters as they are released. Voting opportunities will only remain open for a limited time. Of course, all are welcome to read at their own pace, but those who follow along will have the chance to decide the fate of not only Princess Lilibeth, but the entire kingdom of Sylvaris, too.
