The ending is just the icing on the cake, exquisite, magnificent, spectacular, extraordinary is what I’d call this book. Of course the beginning is a bit tiresome. But then it start taking pace, what I mean is that during the middle and end of the book are the best parts."

A sad happy ending
"I really likes this story. Scarlet was an innocent girl with powers that gets sold along with her bffcharacter Renee to a Vampire king. He plans to use her for an upcoming war but they end up falling in love, with the slight problem that he is married. The plot is excellent and as a whole I couldn't put it down, but I did find several problems that by no means made the book bad, but they could be fixed. ---The over- use of the word alas in the first chapters or every time the doctor appears. ---The king is married and it really made me not like as much their romance, because he and his wife are not really having troubles at the beggining. He tells her things, have sex, etc. She is not very lovable and I get that he falls in love with another one, but into perspective, the queen never does anything wrong for me to really hate her. She just gets pregnant and thinks she is superior to others. Again, I do not ship her or like her as a character, but I also believe she doesn't deserve to be cheated on without an explanation, so that made me not love the romance between them. ---The time the story is supposed to be in ,is very confusing. It is a fantasy world, so there are vampires, werewolf's, etc. So I get the author can get into some liberties, buuuut then they happen to use gowns, and wood for making showers hot, they use lamps, and have seamstresses. So you think"oh, it is set in a medieval or old kind of setting", but there are also planes, and radios, and cameras, and modern medicine. So I never got the time period. ---The fast paced romance. I did ship the two MCs. But I did think that their romance was out of nowhere. He liked her scent and started talking to her in a lake and then they are in love. Would have liked more of them getting to know each other or falling in love. As far as the good things go, I really liked how the characters behave, they are not annoying. The secondary characters are very fun, or well made. Renee is super interesting, because she is nice but also you want to hate her sometimes, but she is always just protecting Scarlet. And the plot twist with her at the end makes sense so I really liked that. Also I loved how Scarlet gets stronger as the book progresses, so she is not entirely useless or the damsel in distress. As a final point, I loved the ending, it was very original, although it made me sad. I really wanted the cliche ending were everyone gets to be happy, and I guess they all really are happy, but I am not because I want Scarlet and Cain together. So that is depressing, but in a good way because it's not entirely sad. "
