Chapter 1
Young Emily rush was running down the hall, into her room, quickly locked the door and sat down on her bed, her cat meowed quietly when he saw her. She was in the basement of her parents house, her mom had gone to the store, leaving her and her sister alone.
Anna was being very annoying so Emily locked herself in her room. All of a sudden, the lock clicked, and the door swung open
"what the heck? How'd you do that?" Emily said loudly
"it was easy, I put some cardboard between the door and the door frame" Anna replied
"Where'd you learn that?" Emily asked
"I seen mom do it"
Anna said.
Emily sighed "get out!" She demanded
"come, I'll show you how to do it" Anna said
"get lost"
Emily replied sharply "I'm not locking myself out of my own room"
"then I bet I can do it with the bathroom door" Anna replied eagerly
"Fine" Emily finally said, she got up and glanced at the clock hanging on the wall, it was 2:03 pm. they both walked to the other side of the hallway. Anna locked the door and closed it, Emily watched from behind her. Anna struggled for a second then realized.... They locked themselves out of the basement bathroom!
"Move over" Emily said as she pushed her younger sister out of the way.
Emily turned the door knob and pushed the door but still, nothing.
The only thing in Emily's mind at the time was how mad their mom would be. Suddenly, an idea entered her mind
"there's a window! If we go in the backyard, one of us can get through the window, onto the sink and unlock the door" Emily explained.
Anna nodded and went upstairs, Emily followed her.
It was early November and the cold wind blew across the backyard, blowing yellow, green and red leaves all over, the two girls didn't bother putting their shoes on and just rushed outside, they had no clue when their mom would be back. The screen on the window was broken and easily moved aside, Anna managed to open the window
"well? What are you waiting for? Go" Emily said
"I'm not doing that" Anna replied.
Emily was 11 years old and Anna was only 8
"fine, I'll do it" Emily sighed,
Emily crawled through the window as slow as she could, Anna waited a second and ran back inside. Emily tried to feel the sink with her feet but couldn't so she lowered herself a little more. It startled her when she heard a loud bang
"hey!" Anna yelled
"Give me a second!" Emily replied.
Emily could finally feel the sink, she didn't know that there was water on the sink, Emily let go of the window but as soon as she put her full weight on the sink she slipped. she leaned backwards, fell head first and hit the ground with a loud bang.
Everything went dark for what felt like hours but could have just been a few minutes, when she woke up, Emily was on the floor, there was a sharp Piercing pain on the back of her head. the bathroom was gone too. Instead, she was in a large storage room filled wall to wall with boxes. There was a piece of broken glass leaned against the wall, Emily looked at herself in the reflection and gasped. The light blue sun dress she had been wearing was gone and instead she had on a torn purple sweat shirt and dark blue jeans with large holes at the knees. Emily turned, at the corner of her eye she could still see the piece of glass and for a split second she was sure she saw her eyes change from brown to two different colors, her left eye was blue and her right eye was green.
Her hands flew to her head, ignoring the throbbing pain. The torn black sweat shirt felt rough and Alien against her skin. She didn't just look different, she felt wrong. The glass confirmed it
"I'm not me"
a small voice screamed in her head. she reached for the door knob and opened the door slowly. When Emily looked outside, she was shocked! She saw a dead forest, full of trees that looked as if they hadn't spouted a single leaf in years, and the ground was covered in a dull grey-ash carpet that had once been grass. a bit more investigation revealed that the "storage room" Emily had been inside was just a small shed, on the top of a near by hill was what looked like a city or a town, the buildings looked dirty and broken down. Emily trembled for a moment, wondering what was going on
"Is this a dream?" She thought through an almost panicked voice. after looking around for a few more seconds, Emily decided to go check out the city at the top of the hill.
When she got there, a small broken sign stood near the entrance to the Town but what was written on it was unreadable. Inside the town, people were rushing around, paying no attention to the state of the town and how broken it looked from the outside. Emily was walking when she heard a voice, a quiet whisper that seemed to come from nowhere. She looked towards an alley way and saw a young teen aged boy, at least 13 years old standing there.
He was tall and wore a thick, baggy black sweater with a large hood he had covering his short brown hair, it was hard to tell but it looked as if he might have a small scar on the side of his head
"who are you?" He whispered,
Emily didn't know how to respond. The boy looked at her with this weird, unreadable expression
"what? Why are you staring at me like that?" Emily asked
"many years ago, our beloved princess Melody went missing and the once proud and beautiful kingdom of frostfire glade collapsed and became broken" the boy said
"frostfire glade? What's that?" Emily asked
"uhh, you're joking, right? You... you don't know Frostfire Glade? Everyone knows the story. Our Princess Melody vanished years ago. The city died the day she left. They say only a person with eyes like yours could ever bring her back." He said.
