Summary

"Do you know what people call you?” Zenith glances up from his phone lazily. “Should I be concerned?” “A little.” The answer comes a little too fast. Kirin sits across from him beneath the festival lights, chin resting against his hand while the noise of singing crowd echoes around them. Music. Laughter. Fireworks somewhere in the distance. Yet somehow, the space between them feels strangely isolated from the rest of the world. “People think you’re impossible to approach,” Kirin continues softly. “Like you belong too far above everyone else.” Zenith lets out a quiet laugh. “And what do you think?” For the first time that night, Kirin looks directly into his eyes. It lasts only a second. Yet electrifying in ways Kirin can't explain. But something about it feels deeply wrong. “I think,” Kirin says gently, “you let people touch you too easily.” At Suryakrit University, nobody pays much attention to Kirin. Which is unfortunate. Because if they had looked a little closer, they might have noticed the blood on his hands long before Zenith did.
