Unsettling, Mysterious, and Deeply Engaging

"This short story is really compelling despite its length. It strongly gives off that Grimm Brothers vibes -- the kind that is rooted in the darker, original versions of the typical fairytales. It also evokes the same unsettling atmosphere that you can get from twisted Vocaloid music videos, where each piece grows more psychologically disturbing than the last. It's personally thrilling. As for writing, despite a few errors, which are not a lot (very minor), it is consistently strong throughout, with a smooth flow from beginning to end that makes it easy to stay engaged. One of the standout elements that I like is the mysterious figure with the coat. At the end, they are smiling with pride at the children’s successful revenge. While they come across as a dark, possibly ominous presence, there’s also an interesting undertone of somewhat “twisted” parental energy in my opinion... Maybe the soul of their deceased parent or someone who had experienced a similar injustice. I believe there's more to the story than just the vengeance. Something darker... but that's what makes short stories like this so compelling. It makes you imagine the possible whys and hows and what happens next. :)"
