Chapter 1
The grand hall glittered with opulence. Crystal chandeliers cast a golden glow over the elegantly decorated venue. Tables were adorned with exquisite centerpieces of white lilies and gold-trimmed dinnerware. The air was fragrant with the scent of expensive cologne and fresh flowers, buzzing with excited murmurs and laughter.
Stray Kids entered the hall, their eyes widening at the sight.
“Wow... they really went all out this year,” Changbin commented, eyes scanning the sparkling décor.
“These decorations are no joke,” Seungmin added, taking in the sheer elegance of the setup.
“Should we even be here? This looks too fancy for us,” Han whispered, his nervousness showing as he stuck close to Chan, Seungmin, and Lee Know.
Chan laughed, patting Han’s shoulder. “We belong here just as much as anyone else. Just relax and enjoy the night.”
They found their assigned table, strategically positioned with a perfect view of the stage. As they settled in, the lights dimmed, signaling the start of the event. A hush fell over the crowd. The spotlight beamed onto the stage as the MC’s voice echoed through the hall.
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to JYP Entertainment’s Anniversary Gala!” Applause erupted. “To kick off this evening of celebration, please welcome our trainees for the opening performance!”
A group of eager trainees took the stage, their choreography precise, movements synchronized, and expressions full of hope. Their performance was electrifying, a blend of contemporary dance and hiphop beats. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause.
As the last beat hit, the trainees froze in their final pose, breathing heavily but grinning from ear to ear. The hall burst into cheers.
The MC returned to the stage; his smile wide. “Thank you to our talented trainees! And now, to officially commence this grand evening, please welcome the founder of JYP Entertainment, Mr. Park Jinyoung!”
Mr. Park’s speech was warm and nostalgic, reflecting on the company’s journey, achievements, and vision for the future. As he concluded, the crowd applauded once more.
“And now,” the MC continued, “it is my honor to introduce someone who has been an outstanding pillar of JYP Entertainment... Ms. Kei Takahashi!”
A murmur of anticipation rippled through the room. Bang Chan looked up, curious. He had heard about her—a name often whispered in admiration and fear.
Kei Takahashi stepped onto the stage, heels clicking with quiet authority. Her raven-black hair cascaded in soft waves, framing sculpted cheekbones and captivating hazel eyes. She wore a sleek black Balmain mini dress with sharp shoulders and gold accents. The deep V-neckline balanced the long sleeves, while the mid-thigh hem showcased her toned legs. Louboutin stilettos completed her commanding presence.
Her muted red lips curved into a knowing smirk as she reached the podium. She paused, letting the silence amplify her aura before she spoke, her voice smooth and clear.
“Good evening, everyone. Tonight, we celebrate more than just another year of JYP Entertainment’s success. We celebrate growth, perseverance, and the unwavering spirit of creativity that defines us.” Her eyes scanned the room, sharp and attentive. “Behind every performance, every song, and every smile lies hard work, dedication, and the courage to dream. To every artist, trainee, and staff member— thank you for your relentless pursuit of excellence. Together, we are shaping the future of music and culture.”
A powerful applause followed. Chan felt his heart skip a beat.
Felix leaned in, a mischievous grin on his face. “Hyung, did you just choke on your wine?”
Chan straightened, cheeks flushing. “No... just... caught off guard.”
Felix’s grin widened. “Right. Totally not because she’s your type.”
Chan shot him a glare, but his eyes drifted back to the stage. Kei Takahashi commanded attention effortlessly, and for the first time in a long while, he was captivated.
After her speech, the trainees performed another dance number, energizing the room. The formalities concluded, and the real party began. Guests mingled, expensive wine flowed, and laughter filled the air.
Kei moved through the room, greeting attendees with a poised smile. She approached Stray Kids’ table, her demeanor warm yet professional.
Hyunjin’s face lit up. “Ms. Kei!” He stood up, giving her a brief hug.
I.N followed, his smile wide. “Noona!”
Chan blinked in surprise. Kei’s eyes softened. “Hyunjin, I.N... it’s been a while. Look how much you’ve grown.”
Hyunjin grinned, “You were the one who arranged our S.O.P.A. enrollment and mentored us back then.”
I.N nodded enthusiastically. “You taught us so much, Noona!”
Kei laughed, the sound melodious. “I merely guided you. The talent and hard work were always yours.”
She turned to the rest of Stray Kids, her smile gracious. “Shall we have a drink and enjoy the evening?”
Chan could only nod, his mind racing. This was no ordinary executive. This was Kei Takahashi—the woman who captivated him the moment she walked into the room.
