Summary

Two years ago, aliens showed up. Now Earth's been invited to join the Intergalactic Communications Network, a peaceful intergalactic alliance where species from across the universe gather to communicate, cooperate, and -apparently- confuse each other on a daily basis. Darling Hayes didn't volunteer. In fact, no one did. But that didn't stop her from being selected, packed off into space, and told she's now one of five official human ambassadors. She's underqualified, out of her depth, and doing her best not to offend anyone. Unfortunately, her assigned contact is a humanoid alien species known as the Kairlgire, a 7 foot 7 inches tall humanoid alien species, aggressively blunt, and absolutely certain she shouldn't be allowed to do anything on her own. He thinks she's fragile. She thinks he's a problem. Between translation mishaps, diplomatic near-disasters, and one too many arguments over what qualifies as "normal behaviour," Darling is starting to suspect that peaceful intergalactic cooperation might be a little more complicated than advertised. And significantly more awkward.

Two years ago, humanity learned it was not alone.

The revelation should have changed everything. Instead, life carried on. Earth made contact with millions of intelligent species spread across the stars and was invited to join the Intergalactic Communications Network- the ICN- a vast diplomatic station where representatives from countless worlds live, work, and cooperate.

There was only one condition.

Humanity cannot send its greatest minds, strongest leaders, or most accomplished heroes. The ICN does not want the best humanity has to offer. It wants humanity itself, an average representation of humanity; ordinary people from different backgrounds, careers, and perspectives. To further reduce complications, those selected could have no immediate family, partners, or dependents on Earth. The chances of returning home were considered low.

Five people were chosen.

Jack Locke, a linguistics professor tasked with helping the galaxy understand the chaos that is human language.

Ingrid Hanson, a biologist responsible for cataloguing Earth’s ecosystems and lifeforms.

Diya Singh, a scientist contributing humanity’s understanding of chemistry, physics, and scientific theory.

Aiden Williams, a mechanic sharing Earth’s engineering, machinery, and practical innovation.

And Darling Hayes.

A twenty-two-year-old art student who has absolutely no idea why anyone thought she belonged in space.

Now living aboard a station populated by species from thousands of worlds, Darling must navigate unfamiliar cultures, impossible technology, diplomatic expectations, and a seven-foot-seven Kairlgire ambassador named Kaelen- her assigned guide and, unfortunately, one of the most frustrating individuals she has ever met.

For humanity’s newest ambassadors, surviving life among the stars may prove far more difficult than getting there.

Please read before you continue:

Please refrain from:

1. Spamming me for updates. Unfortunately, I am a procrastinator, the more pressure you apply on me to update, the less likely I am to do so. I am just being completely honest. This is a creative story that I will write and update whenever I have the chance to do so, and if I haven’t updated in a little while it’s likely because I am busy, or taking a breather.

2. Please do not harass me over my storyline or any creative choice I choose to make.

3. If you promote other authors or books in my comment section, or on my page, you will be blocked.

4. This book will likely contain smut, but do not pester me for it. This is a light hearted, slow burn story and I will be deciding when I choose to write smut.

5. Finally, please keep the comments clean of any hate or fighting. I do not mind criticism, in fact I find it incredibly helpful. However, blindly posting hateful comments is not constructive criticism, and will not be tolerated. This is a safe space, so let’s keep it respectful and kind.

Disclaimer:

1. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of smut, please do not read. Or just skip over the chapters that will be marked ‘M’ for mature.

2. If the idea of interspecies intercourse makes you uncomfortable, please do not read. The male lead in this is considered a humanoid, alien cyborg. He is NOT human, despite having similarities to humans.

3. I am still in the early stages of world building and planning, so if any chapters appear a bit disorganised please take this into consideration. I am yet to go over and fully polish my published chapters, however when I do so it will be marked as ‘Edited’.

4. Chapters on average are between 4000-5000 words, so they can be a bit long.

Shawna: I really enjoying reading this book, I read it twice back to back just in case I missed something lol. Mira & Devryan are actually perfectly fit one another, even when they tried to deny it. Walker of the Dark: Short but definitely intense and amazing. Rage and Aspen were amazing together and I am glad to see a woman who is strong, determined on what she wants and well connected as a bonus. Also enjoyed seeing how even the Mafias is not all "stable" and how a bad bean can spread like wildfire if not contro...
