Drunk But Safe
The broken shards reflected the stream of light onto the ceiling. Nothing would be wrong here at first glance. That is till you noticed that the glass lay in a pool of blood. It waited and waited. Waited for the last victim. It waited for the last drop of blood that would unite the family forever. But alas! It never came.
He waited. Waited for the last victim. Not wanting any leftover mess, he wanted it to be done cleanly. No one should be left out; at least no one that could remember and file a case. Unfortunately, she never came.
Alice screamed songs at every passerby. It was her first night getting drunk. Half a bottle down already, she swayed as tried to walk. Leyenne held her firmly. She was afraid someone could take advantage of them in the night. She shouldn't have come in the first place. She regretted the decision to take Alice out.
Not wanting to take any chance, she slipped out her phone and called her brother.
"Ed, I need you."
"What happened? Are you fine? Did you take the tool box instead of you lunch to your work again? If that's it I'm hanging up."
That was once. Once. Being a big eater, she had always had big lunches with her at work. This was also coupled with the fact that her workplace was isolated and did not provide any food.
"No, you idiot. I went drinking with Alice. I didn't know she would be drunk so easily. I need you to pick us up."
"You're the real idiot. How could you even think about letting her drink? Forget it. Where are you?"
"We are in front of Altassine, the usual bar not the boring one. They wouldn't let us stay inside cause Alice is literally pouring her lungs out right now. Come fast, before she permanently loses her voice."
It wasn't long before he arrived with his car, an old jeep. However old it was, though, it was the classiest any jeep could look. And Alice recognized it.
"Edwaaaard. Ish Edwaaaaaaaaaard. Bu' you no' shay a word"
It came out different than what she had intended it to be like, but it did not make a difference to her anyway. Ed helped Leyenne drag Alice onto the backseat before going back to sit in the driving seat. There, Alice fell asleep with her head on Leyenne's lap.
