Chapter One: A Quiet Life
Magic, a wizard’s power given form and the physical manifestation of Mana Magic has many capabilities one of these is Travel between Realms, there are many Realms like your own only a bit different some have giants or elves or even gods but in one particular realm the occupants are made up of normal folks and Wizard Sorcerers, or Mages. They’re a bit like Knights for the King only they used magic to defend the Kingdom and only the best of the best became a Royal Sorcerer. Once you retire you are looked after by the Kingdom as a thanks for your service.
Yet there was one Ex-Sorcerer who refused compensation. He said that he wanted to find a quiet life and settle down with a wife and a child. So he became a blacksmith making swords and shields for the Royal Army as well as Wands and Staff’s and other such magical items for Sorcerers. He also helped people with problems. He is the one they come to when there’s nowhere else to go.
One day something happened that would change his life forever. A beautiful woman came in, her name was Melinda. She had Fiery Red Hair but her clothes were rags and she had a chain around her neck.
Melinda walked into the Shop with a man holding her chain walks behind her and sees Meliodas
“I hear this is the best Blacksmith in the land and you can make anything for the right price”
Meliodas nods “that is correct the harder the item is to make the greater the price but I always decide what the price is however it’s always worth it because I am the best” Meliodas says
The Mage nods in approvement “good I need a weapon but not any ordinary weapon I need it to be able to transform in to a magical staff at will”
Meliodas thinks for a moment “So what would you like it to be when it’s not a Staff a sword or a spear or…”
The mage shakes his head “A Sword is fine”
Meliodas sighs “That’s gonna be pretty hard, I’ll have to take another trip into the Mountains”
The Mage looks at him in horror “The Mountains but isn’t that where all the ogres trolls and orcs hunt?”
Meliodas nods “Yes it’s pretty dangerous for an ordinary man but I was a Royal Sorcerer so I know how to take care of myself”
The mage looks at him in awe “Well what is your price might I ask”
Meliodas smiles “yes like you said it is pretty dangerous so it won’t be cheap”
The Mage looks at him “How “not” cheap”
Meliodas smiles “50 Gold Pieces 18 Silver and 20 Copper”
The Mage laughs “that’s not so bad”
Meliodas shakes his finger “I wasn’t finished… and the last thing if you want it is that girl”
The mage looks at him with glaring eyes “Never I bought this Salve at Slavers bay and she is incredibly valuable I will not sell her”
Meliodas smiles “How about this then just give me the money then we can fight for the girl 1 on 1 and just one match the loser gives the girl but seeing as I could lose I’ll let you keep the money if you win so it will be free of charge”
The mage smiles “you’re on”
Meliodas confirming the Mage’s order says “okay so a Sword that can transform into a Mages Staff correct?”
The Mage nods “that’s right can you really do it?”
Meliodas smiles “of course I can… and what name should I put that under”
The mage grins “you can call me Zelek”
Meliodas smiles “nice to meet you your order should be ready in a week come by then & we can have our duel then”
Zelek smiles “yes I think I’ll leave my slave here with you so you can get it done a lot faster just ask her for anything and I do mean anything”
Melinda bows “a pleasure to serve you my lord”
Meliodas smiles as Zelek leaves “you have beautiful hair”
Melinda smiles and looks down “you shouldn’t say such things I am but a servant destined to serve men as long as I live giving me compliments such as that will only damage your reputation”
Meliodas shakes his head “nonsense such a compliment will only give you a better one and I merely state a fact that every more than half a brained idiot knows.”
Melinda blushes “you honour me my lord.”
Meliodas looks around “Right then we should get going to the Mountain’s”
Melinda nods
Meliodas held out his hand as if he was holding a staff and a staff flew into his hand. He then tapped it on the ground twice and a bag flew onto his back already packed “Alright let’s go”
It took 12 Hours to get to where he needed to go inside the mountain there was a crack straight through the middle and what looked like lava inside the crack Meliodas used his staff to raise something out of it, it looked like a type of metal,
Meliodas got out a box with an orb shape holding in it and Meliodas turned the liquid metal into an orb shape then blew snow at it, it hardened and Meliodas was able to put it away and he did this 3 more times than Meliodas packed all 4 Boxes away and he got up and they travelled back.
When they got back to his shop Meliodas got right into work he got all 3 pieces of metal and placed them on a magical tool making table as he called it Forge different from real forges it was imbued with Mana the essence of Magic
Melinda watched in amazement “What do you need my help with?”
Meliodas shook his head “Nothing its fine just stay back there you can read a book if you like”
Melinda looked down “I don’t know how”
Meliodas looked both curious and sad “You can’t read?” Melinda shook her head and Meliodas smiles “Well let’s fix that shall we?”
Meliodas grabbed Melinda’s forehead and closed his eyes and casted a spell on her as he opened his eyes they glowed golden “There,” he said “Now you can read”
Melinda took a step back and blinked a few times Meliodas gave her a book on magic the origin of it and the different types and how one uses Mana to produce or control different types of magic.
“Thank you Meliodas I can read” she smiles and happy tears drop from her eyes as she reads from page #1
Meliodas walks over and starts working on the sword part of the Weapon as soon as he finished he sealed it away so no one could touch it besides him he then awaits for Zelek to return
A few days later Zelek walked back into the shop “Well…?” he asks
Meliodas smiles “I have finished the first part but I need your blood for the last part”
Zelek looks nervous but nods Meliodas grabs his hand and cuts his palm and a splash of blood gushes out and falls on the crafting table and blood follows a pathway through the table then he creates a fire ball and it creates an explosion that makes Meliodas fly back
He stands up and starts laughing “That was fantastic!”
As the smoke clears they can clearly see a Staff Meliodas then takes the sword out of its seal and releases the spell he cast on it so he can only touch it he then fuses the Sword and Staff together to create the Sword-Staff Moniko
Meliodas holds it out to Zelek “I present to you Moniko”
Zelek giggles and then steps outside and swings the sword around then he throws it up into the air and it transforms into a Staff and he casts a few Spells.
Zelek laughs “This is great thank you Meliodas shall we begin then?” Meliodas nods and he grabs his Staff and sword and the stand in the centre of town
Somewhere else a few decades later a boy suddenly wakes up to the sound of his alarm clock his hair was shaggy from rolling around in his sleep he had dark black hair with a certain shine to it he had blue eyes like the ocean he wore a white t-shirt and marvel boxers
“Ah! What was that” he asked himself
Then he heard his Mother’s voice “Danyon! You’re going to be late for school! If you don’t hurry up!”
Danyon sighs “I know mum!” he lied back down and threw his pillow over his face then sat up and holds his hand outwards and whispers to himself “Grimoire Activate” a strange book with bindings and hundreds of pages appear in front of him.
He flips through the pages until he reaches the clothing spells “School Wear!” suddenly his PJ’s vanish and his school cloths appear already on him a blue shirt with the Mullumbimby High symbol on it, a pair of black jeans, and a belt already fastened, as well as a pair of white socks, and slip on shoes.
His hair also appears combed and his teeth sparkle with the glint that he had brushed his teeth “being a wizard is awesome” he says with a smirk
Danyon opens his bedroom door as he sees his little Sister Ruby who had no idea about Magic and or anything.
Ruby was fifteen years old so two years younger than Danyon she had long blonde hair with it braided to the side like Elsa from frozen she had fallen in love with the film ever since it came out she also had crystal blue eyes she wore the same T-shirt that Danyon did with a purple leather jacket, blue skirt with brown stockings and Canvas Van’s shoes.
She was a girly girl like all the princesses you see in Disney films but she had a fierceness to it she says that just because she likes dresses and the like doesn’t mean she can’t stand up for herself.
Danyon doted on her like nobody’s business and was more than a little overprotective possibly because she didn’t have a Dad he felt it was his duty to protect her, that didn’t stop him from getting called Sister Complex at school he got annoyed at it at first but just ignores it now, it’s part of the reason he doesn’t have a girlfriend because he is always more focused on keeping Ruby safe from the dark forces he knows are out there.
“Hey Ruby” Danyon said with a smile
Ruby looked up and nodded “Hey…”
“What wrong with you?” Danyon asked
“School, bullies, dad.” She sighed
Danyon looked at her then frowned and sighed too because he knew Ruby’s dad was… is a dangerous dark sorcerer or the official term Warlock.
“Don’t Worry!” Danyon looked down at her and smiled “you’ll meet him one day” he said hoping he was wrong but thought that it might make her feel better
Ruby smiles slightly then they both walked into the Kitchen and had breakfast Beacon and Scrambled eggs after that they both brushed their teeth and headed for school.
Ruby catches the bus for to school whereas Danyon prefers to ride his bike to school soon as he tied up his Bike he met up with some of his friends Amber, Tim, Kida, & Nick none of them knew about Danyon’s powers.
Amber Green: One of his best friends she was the smartest in her year think about how smart the smartest person you know is then times it by Einstein and you’ll get Amber she has purple hair almost like a mermaid and Violet eyes.
She wears her school uniform proudly so a white shirt with the Mullumbimby high logo on it with a blue skirt and high heels. When she’s not in school however she has two looks that she loves chequered violet blue and white shirt with her hair pinned back with a hair band blue short shorts, and long brown cowgirl boots.
She’s a very cheerful girl but when it comes time for school work she becomes about as scary as your Mother. She knows Danyon better than anyone probably even better than himself, the only thing she is unaware of is he’s a wizard.
Timothy Hogan: Tim or TIMMY! As his friends call him Timmy is a funny guy he doesn’t believe in Magic or anything like that or at least he has never admitted as such to any of his friends, he has strange hair on the left side it’s black and on the right side it’s white. He has silver eyes and he wears his gym wear because he’s on the soccer team and always finds ways to train. Danyon has known him since they were 7 Timmy used to beat the crap out of Danyon but now they’re best of friends.
Kida Storm: Kida is the top cheerleader for the school’s basket ball team she has had the biggest crush on Danyon since they met she’s a great friend to Danyon but as said previously Danyon only cares about protecting his family he made a mistake in the past and doesn’t wish to inflict further harm upon them, she has Blonde hair and hazel eyes she is cheerful and always finds excuses to embrace or hold hands with or just be in close proximity with him.
Nicholas Frost: Nick is a cool guy Danyon only met him since he started High school they’re both into different things Nick likes to play soccer and sports Danyon loves experimenting with potions in the Garage. Nick likes watching sports on TV Danyon like watching Squish a wizard sport, Nick has Brown hair and Blue eyes he also refuses to wear the school uniform and wears black jeans with a belt black socks and runners has a black jacket hoody open over a navy green t-shirt
“Hey guys” said Danyon as he walked up to them as they were waiting at the usual spot .
“Hey” they all said in a depressed state
“What’s wrong?” he asked
“Today we got our test scores back.” Nick said as he sighed
“And…” Danyon enquired
They all grinned and shouted excitedly “We passed!” Tim and Nick sighed but smiled
“yeah but barely” Kida glared at them
“Well maybe if you studied more like Danyon you would actually pass” Amber said showing off her A++
Danyon shook his head “Oh, no I don’t study until the last week in fact I hardly ever study I’m just really good at memorizing things”
“yeah don’t we know it” Nick says they all laugh suddenly
Suddenly Danyon’s phone goes off and he looks down at his phone to see a text from his Mum saying “Danyon, Hi sorry to bother you while you’re at School but I thought I’d let you know that we’re having a Guest over for dinner tonight so if you could get some groceries for dinner that would be great”
Danyon sighs “Right well let’s get going”
School went on like any other day an hour in English and an hour in Maths then Recess then study period in study period instead of studying Dan decided to read one of his mother’s Journals from back before he was born.
In the center of Town Meliodas and Zelek were getting ready to fight “You sure you want this” Meliodas said “you know if you just give me Melinda you can walk away of course you will still have to pay”
Zelek smiles and laughs “and miss a chance on getting this for free I don’t think so let’s do this”
Meliodas smiles “Of course but let’s try and keep the damage to a minimum”
Zelek nods “of course” they get in a fighting stance then they both charge aiming their staffs at each other
“Electric Shock!” Meliodas shouts as he shoots lightning out of his staff
“Shield Barrier!” Zelek shouts and protects himself with a Spiritual Shield he throws his sword into the air and shouts
“Darkness of Hades!” as he catches his sword it turns from a silver to a Black Blade
“Holy-Water Rain!” Meliodas yells and a huge splash of water falls on Zelek making him all wet and the Death Magic fades away from his sword and slips over.
Zelek then trips Meliodas over they both look at each other and laugh “I concede this battle” Zelek says “I hope that we meet again”
Many years later Melinda and Meliodas have grown to love and care for one another and Melinda had even just given birth to a baby boy she named Danyon after the founder of the Magic School and they were living a happy quiet life but it all ended one day when a Dark Black Dragon flew over the Village.
Everyone stood in the center of town as they watched Meliodas was the first to realize what it was doing “It’s about to attack!” he shouted
As soon as he shouted The Dark Dragon attacked breathing fire destroying the village Meliodas and some other Wizard Acolytes he had trained began to fend it off but the dragon wasn’t backing off Meliodas looked at his wife and son.
Scared for their safety Meliodas opened a portal to another dimension and pushed Danyon and Melinda through it he whispered in Melinda’s ear “I can’t protect you and the town go and hide in the dimension I’m sending you to I’ll come for you when I can” Melinda goes to argue but then the Portal closes behind Meliodas.
17 Years Later Danyon was awoken out of thought “Dan!” Tim shouts
“Wow! What is it?” he asked
Tim smiles “School’s over you were really lost in thought”
Danyon shakes what he just read off “yeah I guess I was”
“What is it” Nick asks
“It’s nothing” Dan says as he walks out of school
Danyon and his friends all go their separate ways “Alright groceries then home” he bought just a few things that could be used to make a meal when he got home Ruby was nowhere to be seen.
Melinda his mother was laughing for the first time in years she wore a purple dress and had purple hair with blue eyes.
Someone was laughing with her a man he didn’t look much older than her but he had a white short beard with medium silver hair he wore a robe that looked like he’d just left a renaissance fair.
“Hello?” Danyon said nervously
“Ah Danyon!” Melinda said as she noticed he was there “this here is another Wizard he’s called um… Meliodas I think his name was?”
Meliodas nods “yes that’s me I met your mother just this morning in a magic shop and I was new to this dimension so she helped show me around”
Danyon looked at him not trusting him something about him seemed uneasy “Uh, huh what Dimension are you from then”
Meliodas laughs “Well I guess it’s a Dimension much like this only more magical none of the Mythical beasts are mythical in my dimension well not yet anyway there are magic schools all over the world where we Train Sorcerers to be in the Royal Army although that doesn’t mean you have to you can just attend the school so you can join a wizard guild or just to learn magic to help in everyday life”
Danyon was becoming more and more convinced that this was his dead beat father who left him and his mother when he was just a baby “let’s get dinner started” Melinda said
“I’m going to my room I got homework to finish” Dan said aggressively.
Danyon walked out and left the groceries on the table then went into his room but he couldn’t think straight he had learned that he and his Mum used to live in another Dimension from the journals he stole from his mother.
“Dad… Dad broke his promise he never came back for us! and I can’t forgive him for that” Danyon thought to himself he couldn’t concentrate on homework so he decided to go and experiment in his Potions Lab or the Garage he always went there after school it was a little hobby he had he’s started more fires in the Garage than anyone has ever but he would always use the water dousing Spell
“Agh! Not again” he thought to himself “I had it that time” he lied to himself as soon as the fire was out he tried out a new formula he grabbed a large pinch of blue powder and started to let little drops drop into the cauldron…
Suddenly Ruby burst through the garage door “Mum says Dinner’s Ready!” she shouted at Danyon at the top of her lungs as soon as she did Danyon accidentally dropped all the powder in the Cauldron it didn’t set on fire no instead this time it blasted Danyon back about 10 feet
Ruby laughed as a bunch of spell books landed on Danyon’s head and he started laughing too “That was awesome!” he stood up and dusted himself off “alright let’s go have some dinner”
Danyon left the room having no idea that Ruby had picked up a little notebook Danyon had written when he was about her age she flipped through it rather quickly and memorized every single word in the book word for word
When they were all set up at the table and in the middle of having dinner; Fried Rice Ruby would pick all the veggies out and just have the rice she looked up at Mum and Danyon and said “Is magic real?”
Danyon nearly choked on his rice and mum choked on her drink Meliodas on the other hand simply smiled and nodded “Of course it is”
Danyon glared at him “First you leave us for all these years and then you tell Ruby we didn’t want her to know about the Magic World she deserves a better life you ass-hat!”
Melinda looked at him shocked “Danyon!” she snapped at him “that is no way to speak to a guest. And what do you mean leave us?”
Danyon sighed “you mean you still haven’t realized it by now Mum!”
Melinda shook her head so Danyon had to explain it “Meliodas is Meliodas he is My Father! The one that promised to come after us but never did he abandoned us to this dimension!”
Meliodas nods “that’s half true I am your father but…”
Danyon looked up and saw that Melinda had slapped Meliodas “You bastard! You acted like we had never met before but all this time you were Meliodas I knew you two had the same name but after all this time I couldn’t remember what you sounded or looked like it…” her hair flashes red with anger
Meliodas bows “I know I’m sorry Melinda I know I have no right to ask for your forgiveness after everything that I’ve done but please let me explain”
Danyon stood up and acted as if he was forgiving him “it’s alright” Meliodas looked up happy then saw Danyon’s face his eyes were glowing red “You think you can just apologize and we’ll accept it?! You arrogant prick!”
Ruby looked up “Hey! Shouldn’t we give him a chance to explain I’m sure he has a reason for only appearing now just like my dad has reasons for not being around”
Danyon sighed and shook his head “that’s different.”
Ruby looked at him with a fierce glare “How? How is it different?”
Danyon sighed and shook his head “I’ll tell you when you’re old enough”
Ruby groans “I’m Not A Child Dan! I’m 15 Year Old!” she shouts
Danyon shakes his head “I’m sorry but I can’t tell you”
“You suck!” she turns from Danyon in a huff
Danyon sighs “Sorry Ruby but he put Mum through all this pain I can’t forgive him I won’t!” he then felt a wave of guilt wash over him from what happened back then.
Melinda nods in agreement
Meliodas looked sad then went to leave “I’m sorry I should never have come I should have known after all these years you wouldn’t want to see me even if I was only able to get here now after all these years”
Danyon raised an eyebrow “What!? You expect me to believe you couldn’t open a portal to a dimension even though you were the one who opened it in the first place!”
Meliodas nods “Well, it’s a little more complicated than that, I was locked out by Zelek he came back he was the one who controlled the Dragon and he used a Type of Sealing Magic to Seal away my power to open up Dimensional Portals”
Danyon looked at him angry “What a load of bull”
Melinda struggling to believe him she finally sighs and said “Fine I’ll hear what you have to say for yourself”
Danyon looked at her shocked “Hang on What!?” Danyon asked both shocked and furious at once. There was a dead silence as Meliodas cleared his throat to begin his tale.
