What We Left Inside

It all started in a lab. The creature of hell itself. We didn’t mean to create it, we were just testing out an old experimental virus. We even tested it on a human being. That was a huge mistake, we didn’t know what the virus even did. It was too old to tell, yet too undiscovered to find results without testing it itself. After we injected it into Human-298, it showed instant results.

The test results were incredible at first. Super Strength, incredible speed, and very good in an increase in intelligence. Then, it got worse. The test subject’s skin turned pale, his eyes turning black. His eyes were hollowed with a red glow. Suddenly, his body elongated and grew. His arms and legs were now long, with razor sharp claws. His ears grew into a pointy shape, and his mouth elongated. Now he contained razor sharp teeth, and hair disappeared. I was staring at a bald demon-freak.

A scientist near me ran to the lockdown button, and pressed it. The alarms sounded, and security burst through the door. They were carrying weapons, and armor on them. They signaled us to get behind them, and they raised their weapons. The monster now fully grew to 8-feet, and was now scratching at the glass. Its claws were damaging the glass, and soon cracks started to form. Soon, the cracks started to get bigger and bigger.

Suddenly, the glass broke. The monster lunged at the guards, and gunshots could be heard. I ran, and so did my colleagues. Even a coward guard did the same. I looked back and can see the guards that stayed back being ripped to shreds and thrown across the room as they were firing at the monster. I kept running, and suddenly I could hear loud thuds coming from behind us. I turned around to see the monster running towards us.

We quickly passed a security gate, and it slammed shut. The creature starts banging on the blast door loudly, and we catch our breath. I get up, and start running towards the exit. I know for a fact that a blast door cannot hold for long against that creature. The guard follows me, and orders me to seek shelter while he reports the breakout to the higher-ups. I’m not listening to his pleas to find shelter, as I know that thing will hunt anything that’s not itself down.

I accidentally ran into another testing chamber, and saw local scientists with guards escorting test subjects back to their containment cell. It appears they just got done with a test that seemed ineffective. No government weapon to end WW4 I guess. We need to run more tests if we want to beat China now that they have captured all of Europe. Suddenly, one of the test subjects acted weird. I think it was Human-106 that was acting up. Suddenly, he started growling and bit into one of the scientists. The guard shot him, and he died there at the spot. The scientist said she didn’t feel good, and started to walk like she was drunk. Suddenly, she charged at the test subjects and started gnawing on one. The guard had to shoot her as well.

Then the guard watched as that test subject started biting the other test subjects, and he was soon outnumbered. He ran towards my direction, and saw me. He ran past me, and I followed him. Now I have to deal with two types of monsters. I look to the side as we run, and see Human-298 digesting that cowardly guard whole. I gasp in fear, and keep running. Human-298 sees us running, and starts chasing after us. The guard I was following looked behind us, and screamed. I guess he didn’t expect to see a creature that hideous.

I think I remember what parasite they used on Human-106. If I was correct, one of the scientists was explaining that they were gonna use a super serum that gives super strength to see the side-effects. I guess that was the side-effect, Zombie Mind. If I ever make it out alive, I will make sure that I quit this job, and go back home to my loving wife and three kids. The guard started speaking to me in German, and said: “Wir müssen in die Sicherheitszone gelangen, mein amerikanischer Freund!” I don’t truly understand what he said, but I think he told me to get to a safe zone.

We keep running, and the intercom starts to speak: “Attention all personal, please evacuate the facility. I repeat, evacuate the facility. The lower levels have been breached by two unknown viruses. Please evacuate the facility.” This intercom cuts out, and I keep on running. I can’t stop now, that crazy monster is after me. I can hear its footsteps as it runs after me getting louder and louder. I don’t know where is a good place to hide, I think a small enclosed space would be perfect. I tell the guard to follow me, and he listens.

We run down a hallway with the monster after us, and we bust through a doorway. The room is small, but empty. There is no way that monster can get in here. I slam the door shut, and we hide in the office room. I tell the guard, “Credo che siamo al sicuro, amico mio tedesco.” The guard looks at me, and says: “Es tut mir leid, dass ich dachte, du wärst Amerikaner.” “Du sahst amerikanisch aus.” I don’t really understand what he is saying, as I don’t know that much German. Me and the German guard are now stuck in a small office, with a crazy monster right behind that door.

I can hear the monster pounding on the door, but with what? It’s feet? It’s claws? I don’t know how we can get out of this mess. I hope the facility can secure it, I’m just tryna get back to my loving family. I can’t handle this, and I freak out. The guard slaps me, and commands me to get myself together. I just don’t know how I’ll be able to survive these Monsters.
