Prologue-Descent

I remember...falling.

I remember screaming and yelling, flailing my arms in a vacuum of darkness.

I remember the firing of electricity from rupturing black clouds, like sparks in a body shop.

I remember the feeling of hot wind shredding at my body as if it was in a hurry and I was just in the way.

I remember what looked like embers drifting upwards, escaping whatever fate was waiting for me. Was this fate the ground? Was there any ground. If I could've kept my eyes open long enough to look, maybe I could have seen some. Sadly, as I was to learn, there was no ground. There was something solid approaching, but it was not ground or anything earthly.

I remember the hot wind cooling and then grinding to a halt, myself included. Suspended in time and space, I was staring my next obstacle in the face... or surface, however one might stare down a formidable crystal-like structure. The object was of considerable size, maybe if I were a satellite and this thing was the Earth, thats what is meant by considerable size. Slowly it pulsed a white blue. Slowly I began to fall. Slowly I and this alien structure were about to meet face to face.

I remember the sound of chaotic thunder above me and the spacey hum from in front of me. It was like my sense of sound came on all at once, it was a major overload. My senses were working overtime, except taste. It was then my body was overloaded, my nerves smashed alive as I made contact, the pulsing glow engulfing me and the glass surface and my puny body colliding!

I remember the feeling of getting hit by a truck. Maybe it hurt at first but in seconds I felt nothing. I could taste blood in my my mouth, yet there was nothing in my mouth but my dry tongue. Finally opening eyes I found myself floating in a field of shattered glass. Where before I was falling, here I felt no gravity, nothing pulling on me.

I remember asteroids of coarse cut glass flying about me. Had I done this? This... What was this anyway? It was then I could feel myself going numb. I tried to move but I couldn't. I tried to look back up but couldn't. I was frozen.

I remember a golden light in my eyesight, then a pull, gravity resuming its hold on me. As I was floating toward this light, I began tipping forward. I could see other things all around I had missed, even though nauseating. I could huge chucks of the glass being linked by webs ethereal streams. I could see blue streams turning red. I could see the atmosphere of the crystal field space pulsing slower, like a heart weakening.

I remember the sound of glass flying and metal crunching.

I remember a bellowing laugh echoing behind me.

I remember blinding light pouring into my eyes.

I remember losing my ability to think straight.

I remember...

I remember falling... again and then... then nothing.

I remember nothing.
