Chapter 1: The Rain Beneath Midnight
The rain poured endlessly against the café windows, turning the city lights into blurred streaks of gold and blue. Liam Hart sat alone at a corner table, his laptop open but untouched. The blinking cursor on his unfinished manuscript seemed to mock him.
Three months.
Three months without writing a single decent chapter.
With a frustrated sigh, Liam closed the laptop and wrapped his hands around a warm cup of coffee. The quiet café was nearly empty, except for a few late-night customers seeking shelter from the storm.
Then he heard it.
A piano.
Soft, beautiful notes drifted through the room.
Liam looked up.
Near the back of the café sat a young man dressed in black, his fingers moving gracefully across the piano keys. The melody was gentle yet heartbreaking, carrying emotions Liam couldn't explain.
For the first time in months, he felt inspired.
The pianist seemed completely lost in the music. His dark hair fell across his eyes, and a faint smile rested on his lips—a smile that somehow looked lonely.
When the song ended, the café fell silent.
The young man glanced up.
For a brief second, their eyes met.
Liam quickly looked away, embarrassed for staring.
But moments later, someone stopped beside his table.
"Did you like the song?"
Liam looked up and found the pianist standing there.
"Yeah," Liam admitted. "It was beautiful."
The stranger smiled.
"I'm Ethan."
"Liam."
A simple introduction.
A simple conversation.
Neither of them knew it then, but that rainy midnight would become the first page of a story that would change both of their lives forever.
Outside, the storm continued.
Inside, fate quietly began writing its masterpiece.
