Chapter 1:Bored to the point of going crazy.
I was clearly sitting in my room, staring at the messy, incomprehensible symbols and spells scribbled all over my own desk.
Click.
The door creaked open. Dorian poked his head inside, whispering in an incredibly low voice:"Caelum, come out with me."I frowned, looking at his anxious face, and then glanced down at Garrick's pouch of gold pieces sitting right next to me. Feeling rather annoyed, I pulled a gold piece from the bag and started melting it down to continue crafting my golden talismans.
"It'sp just a few gold pieces, yet that great master Garrick keeps whining and nagging about it," I grumbled out loud in pure irritation. "He's acting like he lost his entire fortune or something. This potion is extremely hard to make, and he won't even lend me a tiny bit of gold. He really is so unlikable.
"While badmouthing him with a bitter attitude, I swung the door wide open to let Dorian in. But to my absolute horror, a deep, highly attractive, yet heavy voice echoed from the hallway:
"Oh, really? Am I that stingy?"Slam!I slammed the door shut in a blind panic, my heart leaping out of my chest. My soul completely left my body. I thought it was only Dorian out there!
- You ruined me, Dorian!
I slowly opened the door, letting out another sheepish laugh."Oh, Garrick! I was just... crafting a gift for you. You didn't think I was some kind of heartless backstabber, did you?"Garrick smirked. "Is that so?
Hand it over then."My hands quickly snatched the fake gold I had prepared earlier and handed it to him, followed by a single grain of real gold.
Garrick narrowed his eyes in suspicion.I immediately rambled to defend myself: "Look, this one is fake gold, but does size even matter when it comes to value? On the other hand, this is real gold—it represents you, Garrick! Who could ever replace a precious material like that, right?
I treasure it deeply because real gold belongs to the young master, and since I treasure you, I chose you... which means I chose the gold!"Dorian stood there clacking his hands, his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open in absolute shock.
He never expected me to be this gutsy, especially after he recalled the time he got punished to clean the dragon stables for a much smaller offense.
Garrick merely smiled. "So, you're saying you chose me?"I let out an awkward chuckle. "Correct. Therefore, I chose the gold."The young master stepped into the room, looking around casually. "Oh? I treasure you too. By the way, this room belongs to my estate, doesn't it?"I stood there, completely dumbfounded.
