Chapter 1
“Katie, Jere is coming!” Katie’s mom Anne screamed. Katie is sixteen and she loves Jere, the boy she grew up with. Jeremiah is eighteen and the hottest guy in school. All the girls mush into a puddle every time they see him. The girls at school don’t know that Katie and Jere have history.
“Shit, I better get ready.” Katie screams, she looks in the mirror her long blonde hair falls down her back and she has sea blue eyes. Katie loves comfy clothestracksuit pants and band name shirts. Will ,Jere like Katie or does he want a stylish girl. Who the fuck knows. Jere hasn’t said anything, there has been flirting but no one’s made the first move. Katie fell in love with Jere when she was thirteen and he held her hair while she vomited. Katie was sick with the flu and Jere spent the day with Katie. They watched movies and laughed. But at school he said hi when they crossed paths. Jere is a heart throb with curly brown hair and meadow green eyes and a chiseled body. Every time he smiled his dimples appeared and Katie melted. How can she get him to notice her as more as the girl he grew up with. The friend she wants to be a girlfriend. Katie quickly changes into a floral dress. Maybe he will notice her today.
“Hi Katie,” Jere says as he walks into her room with the walls filled with actor and band posters.
“Hi Jeremiah.”
“It’s hot today. You look nice.”
“Thank you.”
“How are is your mom?”
“She’s good, she’s met a new man. He’s cool.”
Jere’s mom is single her name is Lauren and her and Katie’s mom Anne are best friends. Anne is also divorced. Katie hates it but she is getting used to it. Katie and Jere live in a small town called George in the Western Cape, South Africa, he lives with Lauren in a flat about 10 minutes away from Katie. Katie lives in a small flat with Anne and her brother Brad. Brad is six years younger than Katie. Katie loves her home town it suits her it’s quiet and she loves her close knit group of friends. Jeremiah sits on her bed he loves to sit on her queen sized bed and makes himself at home every time. Today he is wearing shorts and a blue collared t-shirt.
“I failed my science exam.” Jere says as he plays with his finger, Katie loves his long tanned fingers. He has gorgeous hands, and Katie always wishes she could hold onto them.
“I failed my biology exam will we ever need these subjects in real life.”
“I know right.” Jere laughs, he has such a beautiful soft laugh. Katie loves history and creative writing. She hopes to be an author one day.
“Would you like to go to Vic bay with me?”
“Now?”
“Yes, its hot outside and we go swimming and eat ice cream.”
“Sure, sounds fun.”
“I’ll go tell our moms.”
“Okay, I’ll get ready.”
Katie changes into her bikini, she has some curves which she loves but she rarely flaunts them as she likes to hide them but today is different because she wants Jere to see her as more than just a girl. She doesn’t have braces anymore and she’s got cleavage, but she hides them. Maybe Jere will fall for her today? Maybe he will want to be her boyfriend?
A girl can hope.
“Mom’s said we can go.”
“Yay.”
Jere takes his phone from his pocket and dials a number.
“Amber, would you like to go to Vic bay?” Katie wants to cry but she has to hold it in. Why is Jere calling Amber, the hottest girl in school. The perfect match but Katie dreams she would be the one for Jere not bitchy perfect Amber. Jere hangs up.
“Alright, let’s go. We just going to pick Amber up.”
Katie sighs. What can she do?
“Okay.” Katie says as they leave the room. Amber didn’t see Jere cry when he’s father left when he was fifteen, Amber didn’t see him when he first got drunk and she didn’t see him when he was sick. Katie held him in her arms when his father left and Katie played card games with him when he was sick. Katie is always there but will she one day be the girl that he kisses, go on dates with and loves, not just a friend but her boyfriend and best friend together.
