We want something we can hold on to. This then forces us to wear masks that do not reflect who we truly are. Plunging us into a world of fear, self-hatred, and loneliness. As time goes by, reality settles in, and those masks become fractured. This work of writing is a great personal reflection of the fractured masks we wear in reality. The writer explores how they felt when they found themselves being cornered by fear, loneliness, and a lack of belonging. They reflect on how it felt when even family felt distant when they needed them the most. For the first time, I found a piece of writing that I could relate to.
