Chapter 1

-SIXUS-

Melfina had gone back to the past and had gotten herself captured by those fucking gods and goddesses. I monitored everything she did, cloaked in the astral thread. Her biggest mistake was thinking that she could return to the past and escape her present reality.

“Did you feel that?” I asked Timbrax as I slowly rose from my throne.

“Yeah,” Timbrax nodded, lost in thought. “Melfina’s life force just… vanished.”

“How is that possible?” I demanded.

“I’ll go search for her,” Timbrax replied as he opened the astral thread with his hand. Leaping inside, it closed behind him. “Keep an eye out for her.”

“Whatever happened to Melfina had something to do with those fucking gods and goddesses.

And I was going to find out what they did to her.

-MELFINA-

The feeling of disorientation overtook me as I felt the shift in the timeline. I was back in the timeline I had originated from. Someone brought me back here.

“Don’t hurt her!” a familiar male voice shouted from behind a beautiful woman.

Recognition came back to me. The Shamanic King of Light Evan was begging for my life. I saw the fear in his eyes.

“I shall claim the power of the rare blue flame for myself!” Aphrodite shouted as she held me up by the throat, dangling me over a cliff. Beneath me lay a flowing river of scorching lava. Hoplites cheered before she released me, and I screamed as my body flew, slamming into the lava pit.

“The dragon goddess is DEAD!” Aphrodite laughs as the hot lava swallowed me up.

I welcomed death as my world faded to black.

***

I opened my eyes quickly and experienced confusion as someone pulled me out of the lava. They tossed me onto the black rocks as I gasped for air.

“Everyone thinks you are dead,” an unknown female voice spoke from beside me to my left. “I shall hide you away until the time comes for you to annihilate Aphrodite.”

She placed a hand over my head, and I screamed in pain as she hid my half-draconian form. I felt my wings being shoved back into my body, and it was agonizing. She placed me in my mortal form. My weakest form. I still had access to my flame, but it was minimal. She wiped my memory before I blacked out once more.

***

I heard the muffled sound of music inside the building behind me as I lay on hard rocks. The smell of the dirt woke me as I welcomed the cool breeze that blew around me.

“We’ve got something here!” a male shouted as he crept closer towards me. “What the hell happened to her?”

“She smells like she was burned alive,” an unknown female says. “Get her inside, Avan.”

I felt someone carefully pick me up, and I heard them walking. A door opened, and the music filled my ears. The smell of alcohol hit me as I felt Avan walk up a staircase. He walked up a hallway and entered a room.

I felt safe and fell asleep.

I awoke as the sun was rising. The brightness caused me so open my eyes and sit up. I was lying in bed in a small apartment. Shoving the hot blanket off my body, I slowly rose. I found my shoes beneath the bed and shoved my feet into them and stood.

Walking towards the door, I stepped out into the empty hallway and headed towards the staircase. Carefully walking down, I stood in an empty bar. Walking past the tables, I found three people cleaning. Two males and a female. One male and the female looked to be around my age.

“Ah,” the younger male said as he cleaned a wooden table. “She’s alive after all.”

“What’s your name, kid?” the elder male asked as he set a glass down beneath the wooden bar.

“Uh,” I was drawing a blank. I couldn’t remember anything. “I can’t remember?”

“My name’s Zeno,” he replied. “You’ve got two choices, kid.”

“Okay?” I replied.

“One, you join my team of Eternal Hunters,” he paused for effect. “Or two… I let Avan and Setha kill you before you take your next breath.”

Glancing between the three of them, I realized they weren’t my enemies. I could trust them. My instincts never started me down the wrong path.

“I’ll join your team,” I replied as my intuition alerted me that danger was quickly approaching. “You have fae approaching your bar.”

“Shit,” Avan replied as he pulled out a dagger hanging by his left thigh. “They’re here for her.”

“Get her outta here, Setha!” Zeno orders as he leaps over the bar and stands beside Avan.

Setha grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me towards the ladies’ room. Shoving me inside, she closed and then locked the door behind her. A full-body mirror hung behind the door.

She dabbed her fingers on the glass and spoke a cantation. The glass went from being solid to rippling like water

“GO!” she ordered. “I’ll be right behind you!”

Taking a deep breath, I ran through the glass and slammed onto the ground. My lungs burned as I realized Setha hadn’t followed me at all.

Pushing myself up, I climbed to my feet. I realized I was standing in a magic shop. I walked towards the back of the shop. It was pitch black.

Someone slammed me on my temple with a heavy object. I fell to the ground. My head throbbed as I struggled to think straight.

“Kill her!” a familiar male voice snarls to someone.

I felt a dagger slit my throat and felt it stab me in the chest. The taste of blood was in my throat.

They started a fire and ran, leaving me to die in this empty shop.

Someone walked over to me and picked me up in their powerful arms.

I fell unconscious knowing I was safe.

***

The beeping of machines caused me to open my eyes. I found myself lying on a hospital bed. My throat hurts with each swallow. My chest aches with each breath I drew.

“She lives,” Avan replied as I turned my head to the right and found him standing with Setha and Zeno. “That exit strategy didn’t go according to plan, did it?”

“Don’t speak,” Zeno shot me a warning look. “Your throat’s been slit, kid.”

“Good thing we got a hospital in this place,” Setha replied. “I’m sorry I wasn’t able to follow you.”

“It’s okay.”

I thought.

“I’m alive thanks to you guys.”

“She can speak using telepathy,” Avan said to the others. “That’s good.”

“All of you are fae,” Zeno frowned. “As a mundane, I don’t hear shit.”

“Fae?”

I thought.

“Is that what I am?”

“Those fae are gonna come back and storm my bar,” Zeno sighed heavily. “You two are to guard her.”

Avan took me off the machines and removed the needle from my arm before wrapping it up.

“Her blood samples are in,” Zeno said as I sat up and slowly climbed to my feet. “She’s a special one, alright.”

The entire building shook as a loud bang erupted from above our heads. My intuition alerted me that danger was upon us.

“We’ve gotta fight our way out,” Zeno shouts as alarms blared around us. “Go!”

Zeno led the way, followed by Avan and Setha. I brought up the rear as I followed them out of the room. Metal steps led upstairs. “Who the hell are you?” Zeno demanded as Setha signed for me to stay back. “And why the fuck did you fuck up my bar?”

“You have someone I want,” a male snarled. His voice was familiar, but I couldn’t place it. “I tracked her scent to this place.”

“I ain’t getting dragged into vampire shit,” Zeno scoffed. “The girl is your problem now.”

Setha motioned for me to step forward.

I ambled up the steps and stepped into the bar.

A male with white eyes with red rings around the edges stared back at me. He pulled out a sword and stabbed me with it.

A bright blue light flashed temporarily blinding me before it vanished. Instantly, something healed my wounds.

“Zyra,” he whispered as he held his hand out towards me. “Let’s go home.”

I took his hand, and we stepped into a blue tunnel. It closed behind us, and we exited through a wall.

“I need you to do something for me,” he said. “But I need to kill you first.” He sank his fangs into my neck, and his endorphins kicked in, leaving me in a state of pure bliss. He removed his fangs and held me as my heart stopped beating.

I gasped while someone restored my vampire powers. As did my memories. I remembered who I was.

“Go into the Nexus,” Timbrax ordered. “And rescue our babies.”

I was a Varacolaci. For how long? I didn’t know. We stood on the lawn at the institute. Gazing at the sky, I saw a bright pink star flash. I felt something pulling me upwards. The door clicked open. I entered the room. Thick fog covered my view. But my flame surrounded the dragon eggs.

Walking towards the eggs, I threw my hand out, and the astral thread opened beneath them. They fell through, and I waited for the signal.

“Got em.”

Timbrax spoke in my mind.

“Get out of there!”

Turning, I came face to face with A. J. the shaman guardian of the former Shaman Queen of Light, Nixie Reigns.

“You shouldn’t be in here,” she spat. “Hand over the eggs!”

“Don’t got em,” I replied as I flipped backwards, falling through the astral thread. It closed behind me. I ran through the icy wall and stood on the institute lawn. “The Nexus is gonna explode!”

Tapping into my vampire speed, I showered and got dressed in a Dragon Knight uniform, mecha pilot boots, and a blue trench coat with dragon scales sewn into it before running out of the Oracle documentary.

“Whoever put that glamor magic on you,” Timbrax spoke as he placed the Valistik sword, the Venin dagger, and the transformation pendant on my body. “I’m not able to remove it.”

“Hecate hid me,” I replied as her face flashed in my mind. Timbrax held the Holistic sword and stabbed me with it. The bright blue light flashed before vanishing. I was now a Stregoni Benefici. “To keep my powers hidden from Aphrodite.”

The alarms sounded, and the ground rumbled as the thick sheet of glass rose from the ground to protect the institute and the Dragon Sanctuary. Without thinking, I ran, flipping over the glass as it rose higher and slammed across the back of the institute, shaking the ground beneath my feet.

“Damn it!” Timbrax snarled as he slammed his fists against the unbreakable glass. “This isn’t funny!”

“You can call me Videl,” I said. “Videl Aeon Dra.”

I felt Timbrax’s rage through the bond. He must have formed it when I wasn’t paying attention to him.

My intuition alerted me that danger was upon us. Or me.

The Nexus exploded, and I shielded myself with the jacket by pulling it across my face. The impact slammed me into the glass, and I fell to the ground. Stars shot behind my eyes as I shook it off and slowly rose to my feet. A.J. stood there holding the dagger in her hand.

“Round two, bitch!” she said as she ran towards me. Pivoting to the right, she stuck her dagger between the dragon’s scales. Tugging to release it only made it stick. “Give me back my dagger, you bitch!”

“You want it back?” I asked as I slammed her into the glass behind me. Her head stuck it and fell to the rocks.

Someone shoved me hard, sending me into the sea before me. I didn’t have time to hold my breath. The frigid water filled my lungs. I couldn’t swim! The weighted clothes made me sink. I was going to die!

I saw a figure swimming down towards me. They grabbed me by the wrist, and I blacked out.

I coughed up water as someone forcefully patted me on the back. My lungs burned, and I was shivering.

“You trying to get yourself killed or something?” That voice. I recognized it. He picked me up in his arms and ran through the open gates, up the grassy hill, and leaped onto the balcony. Running through the open French doors, he kicked them closed and quickly stripped me of the wet clothing and boots. He stripped off his boots and clothing, tossing everything onto the floor. Picking me up, he carried me to bed. “I’m gonna warm you up, okay?”

“I know you,” I whisper through chattering teeth. He covered our naked bodies with the thick black comforter as he pulled me into his arms. “King Sixus Westin.”

“That’s right,” he whispered as he took in my scent. “Do I have your consent?”

“Yeah,” I replied. “I consent.”

“Focus on me, okay?” he whispered as he kissed me.

I closed my eyes and welcomed his tongue as it roamed my mouth, searching wildly for mine. I gave it to him willingly. Gripping his back just above the space where his wings started.

Sixus growled protectively as he flipped me on top of him. I hadn’t noticed him holding a thick icicle behind my back. Not until he stabbed me twice, dragging it across my back.

I screamed in pain as he reached in and forcefully pulled my dragon wings out.

“Green wings?” he whispered to himself. “I was hoping you were… her.”

“Sorry to be a disappointment,” I panted as I shifted into my Half-Draconian form now that it was free. “I’m not Melfina.”

Sixus snarled as he flipped me onto my back. He kissed me as his hard cock slammed into my pussy.

I moaned in his mouth as he rocked his hips from side to side. The only sound in the room was of skin slapping. Fuck, I missed my mate fucking me!

With a final thrust, hot, sticky cum filled my body before he pulled out. Both of us panted as he shoved the hot comforter off his body and stood up. Both of us tapped into our vampire speed and showered and got dressed in clean uniforms, mecha pilot boots and our trench coats.

“Thank you,” he whispered, gazing down at me. “For rescuing my daughters from that fucking Nexus.”

“You’re welcome, my King,” I replied as I bowed my head slightly. “I’m just doing my duty.”

My intuition alerted me that danger was approaching. Both Sixus and I ran out of the open French doors and stood on the balcony. I saw Aphrodite standing on a golden cloud. She kicked a body that looked like me off of it.

Sixus leaped off the balcony and picked her body up out of the air before landing on the grass beneath me.

“The Dragon Goddess is DEAD!” Aphrodite smirked at Sixus. “I retrieved her body from the lava and brought her to you.”

“NO!” Sixus shouted as he cradled the body against his chest. “Mel!”

“Once someone places the flame back into a dragon egg,” she continues with coldness in her voice. “I will return to retrieve it!” Her cloud shot upwards, and she was gone.

“Thank you for rescuing my sisters,” Cy’s voice spoke from behind me as she entered the room. “What’s going on?”

“I’m so sorry,” I whispered as she approached me. “Aphrodite killed your mother and returned her body.”

“What?” Cy asked as she gazed down at her father, who cradled my body in his arms. “MOM!”

The institute cleared out, and the shocked students gathered around Sixus.

“I regret to inform you,” Sixus spoke in a calm, scary voice. “The gods have slain your queen.”

“Our queen is gone?” Clara asks. “This isn’t happening!”

“We’ll have a funeral service for her tomorrow at the Kingdom of Eozadion,” he said as he kissed her and gently set her body on the lawn. Flicking his wrists, he covered her body with ice, enclosing her in an ice coffin. “I’m taking my family to the Kingdom of Eozadion in an hour.”

“Goodbye, my queen,” Clara sobs as she touched the ice. “Thank you for protecting us.”

It was morbid watching everyone say their goodbyes to me while I was still alive! I leaped down as Sixus leaped up onto the balcony to stand beside our daughter.

“I want to stay here,” Cy argued with her father. “This is my home!”

“There is nothing but pain for us here, Cy,” he spat. “Get your sisters and head home to the Kingdom of Eozadion now!”

“Fuck off, Dad!” Cy shouted. “I hate you!”

I used this time to walk through the enormous crowd that was lining up to see the queen before tomorrow’s funeral. Nobody noticed me as I made my way to the Oracle dormitory. The line was moving quickly as students headed back inside. I pulled the heavy metal door open and slid inside, closing it mostly, leaving only a crack for me to watch everything.

“I’m leaving you in charge, Timbrax,” Sixus said as he stood on the balcony beside the Vampire King. “Seal this room off once we leave.”

“Got it,” Timbrax replied, expression unreadable. “I’ll make sure Victim watches over the institute while we’re at the funeral tomorrow.”

“Thank you,” Sixus sighed heavily. “I’m killing those fucking gods for murdering our wife!”

The last of the students said their goodbyes and headed up the steps and into the institute. Timbrax opened the astral thread, and the ice coffin fell through, vanishing as it closed. Sixus went back inside as Timbrax followed him. After what seemed like an eternity, Sixus and Cy stood on the balcony. They strapped babies to their bodies in harnesses. Tears streamed down Cy’s cheeks as she climbed up on the ledge. Kicking off, she headed towards the Kingdom of Eozadion. Sixus climbed up onto the ledge and kicked off. I watched as they both flew away, not looking back once.

Feeling my stomach, I knew I was pregnant. The dragon’s magic removed the baby from my body. Timbrax opened the door and grabbed the Holistic sword. Touching the egg in my hands with the tip of the blade, the bright flash turned the egg into a Half-Draconian egg. He removed all traces of the Varacolaci. Slammed the blade back into the sheath, the eggshell cracked and a newborn baby boy lay in my arms.

He was handsome. Head full of thick dark hair, he was an excellent blend between Sixus and me. Then, a pale blue flame shot out of his body. My eyes widened as I slowly lifted my eyes to meet Timbrax’s.

“They’re going to come for him,” he whispered. “We need to hide him, Videl.”

“His name,” I said. “It’s Zegho.”

“Fine,” Timbrax said. “But you’re running the course and retaking the Mecha Pilot exam got it?”

“Fine,” I replied as I carefully handed Zegho to him. “I’m entrusting Zara and Exley to care for Zegho.”

Tapping into my vampire speed, I ran inside the institute and ran the course. Timbrax clocked it, then he opened the astral thread. Leaping inside, we raced out of the icy wall. Standing in the exam room, I took a seat as they handed me a stack of papers and a pen. I finished the fifty exams rapidly. Handing him the papers and pen, he signed them off as being official. Standing, he opened the astral thread, and we reentered it. Leaping out of the wall, we stood in the dean’s office.

“Who is this?” he asked from behind his desk.

“Meet your new Oracle,” Timbrax said as I walked up to the desk and grabbed the pen. I signed my name beneath my actual name and placed the pen down on the desk. “Oracle Videl Aeon Dra.”

“Aeon Dra?” he whispered to himself in awe. “All hope is not lost after all.”

“You are excused.” Timbrax nodded his head towards the door. “Your dorm is the Oracle Dormitory.”

Nodding, I headed towards the door and stepped into the empty hallway. Sorrow filled the institute’s walls. I hurried up the hallway and headed towards the main doors. I pushed the heavy metal door open, and it stung my skin. Stepping out into the fresh air, I walked down the steps and descended the lawn. I turned and saw that someone had closed the French doors and drawn a heavy, thick black curtain across them.

Someone grabbed my hair roughly and teleported me into space. Taking in my surroundings, I turned and found A.J. in her pink and black alien form. Glancing down at myself, I was in Nyxie’s purple alien form. The thing about these shamans was that when they transferred, they didn’t turn into Skinwalkers or Wendigos. They turned into aliens!

“I’m going to be rewarded by Aphrodite once I kill you,” she smirked. “Prepare to die!” Throwing out her power, a pinkish-black bracelet got stuck to my wrist. She had somehow gotten a hold of the Dark Shamanic Princess’ powers.

Sinergy appeared before me.

“Spirit Form Acord!” I shouted as I held my right hand out. Sinergy turned into a purple ball flying into my palm. I thrust her spirit into my body. We were now of one mind. One body. I tugged my arm towards me, and the power flew out of her body.

Gripping her throat, her eyes widened in shock as she gazed at me in her naked mundane form.

“What’s wrong, A.J.?” I inquired, speaking in Sinergy’s voice. “Humans can’t breathe in space, can you?” Throwing the power back at her, a pinkish black ball formed around her as she gasped. I pulled the ball towards Tellus when a mirror appeared before me. I stopped and found Aphrodite staring back at me.

“Shamanic Queen of Light,” she spoke with coldness in her voice. “The Guardian Angelina Battle has betrayed you.”

“No,” A.J. shouted as she pounded against the ball of energy. “Show mercy!”

“Kill her!” Aphrodite shouted. “Mercy is for the weak!”

Closing my hand into a tight fist, A.J. screamed before her body exploded in the ball. Hair, skin, blood, bone, organs, and clothing all sank to the bottom of the ball. A.J. was dead. Turning the mirror had vanished. Sinergy exited my body just as Evan appeared beside me.

“What have you done?” he demanded as his eyes widened looking at the ball containing A.J.’s remains.

Exhaustion hit me as he caught me in his arms.

Was I in trouble for killing a shaman guardian?

Hell if I knew.

I blacked out into total darkness, wondering that very question.
