Mira's arrival in Positano is written with such vivid, sensory detail — the light, the lemon trees, the salt air — that I felt like I was standing on that ferry with her. But what really sets this story apart is how skillfully Afsheen Fatima balances the romance with real emotional weight. Mira's guilt and grief feel raw and earned, never melodramatic, and the slow reveal of her sister's secret through the journal and the buried box is paced perfectly — each discovery lands harder than the last. Nico is a wonderful counterpart to Mira: gentle without being saccharine, carrying his own grief for Chiara in a way that makes their connection feel mutual rather than one-sided rescue. The blue room reveal absolutely wrecked me — the idea that Elena spent two secret years building a life for a niece she'd never get to welcome is heartbreaking and so beautifully rendered. The prose is lyrical without being overwrought, the pacing pulls you forward chapter to chapter, and the emotional payoff feels completely earned.
