Dad, please! Come back! No!โ€

โ€žAhhh!โ€

โ€žHazel, everything okay?โ€

I quickly opened my eyes. My heart was beating so fast, it felt like it could push through my chest. I was literally bathing in my own sweat. With my shivering fingers I pointed to the pills which were laying on the shelf. My brother handed them to me and I swallowed the pill, drinking out of a glass of water standing on my dresser.

After a couple of minutes my body began relaxing a bit and I was able to talk again.

โ€žSis, this was the third time this week. Are you sure youโ€™re fine?โ€

โ€žYes, everything is fine. Just โ€“ how late is it?โ€

โ€ž7 pm. So late?โ€ I sighed. โ€žJust go back and watch your cartoon.โ€

I was still in shock from this horrible nightmare. These dreams were just getting worse and worseโ€ฆ

Work. They just let me relax a bit, but I guess it was the whole point of it.

I went to the bathroom and just looked at the mirror for a couple of seconds. I had dark circles on my hazel eyes and my light brown hair was just so fuzzy. I decided to go shower because I could not stay like that. After the shower I dried my hair, put on a hoodie and some jogging pants. Normally I would really like to get myself ready, but it was late anyways and I wasnโ€™t in the mood for it today, so this is what it was going to be today.

I walked into the living room and this horrible sound of this ad from the Academy World Company.

โ€žJust turn off the stupid TV, please.โ€

โ€žWhy? You literally told me I could go and watch my cartoon?โ€

โ€žHe wasnโ€™t wrong though. I told him he can watch his cartoon, but how should I have known that this commercial made it even to childrenโ€™s television?โ€

โ€žAnd I donโ€™t even know what you have against that. Itโ€™s great.โ€

โ€žOh boy, was he serious? They even got the young generation brainwashed into loving them. When I grow up I wanna attend this university.โ€

โ€žI will not be like you.โ€

โ€žYouโ€™re lazy .โ€

โ€žI am what?โ€ I said, feeling offended.

โ€ž Lazy. Thatโ€™s who you are,โ€ he said with a smirk on his little face.

I was so annoyed. I guess thatโ€™s the way little brothers are, you know? Right?

โ€žThis academy is for people who are, you know, talented. I donโ€™t know if they would accept you, the little brother of the lazy girl,โ€ I said and laughed, โ€œThese people are thinking They are something better. Argh.โ€

โ€žNo, stop spreading her half lies,โ€ jumped my mum into the conversation.

โ€žEhm, they are ,โ€ I said provocative with crossed arms over my chest.

โ€žSon, just donโ€™t give attention to your sister. The academy is great. Young people who attended these kind of academies are getting very successful. It would be great if thisโ€ฆ if this specific person in your room would put a little effort to get accepted to this academy,โ€ was, she speaking with a harsh tone and her eyes directed in my way.

I raised my eyebrows. โ€žMum, if itโ€™s academy is so great, where are all the young people who attended this university? I did not get to see one of these so-called successful people. You know this topic is sensitive for me.โ€

โ€žAnd youโ€™re still putting pressing on my wound. What about dad and Juโ€“โ€

Before I could finish my sentence, my mum interrupted me and yelled: โ€žHazel, youโ€™re so-called great dad left when you were young. So stop to lay the blame on the academy! And your so called best friend probably left the crity when she got successful. It Just because you donโ€™t want it to be the way it is does not give you the right to just blame everybody else.โ€œ

I felt the tears dropping from my face. For the first time I was crying because I was furious.

โ€žMum, you know what? Just believe whatever you want.โ€

I walked through the door and slammed it pretty loudly, and Iโ€™ve kind of heard something breaking down, but I did not even bother to look back. I began to run, just somewhere else. Anywhere else was better than this place.

I run through the alleys, jumped over the grey fences, precisely balanced across beams and climbed over roofs. I sat down on the roof and wiped my tears with the long sleeves of my hoodie down.

From this place you could see the whole town. Everybody was in a rush. Someone was trying to get the bus and the other one was running to work for the nightshift. My eyes swiped across the whole town. Some kids were playing catch me until they were getting told to come back home cause it was getting dark.

I smiled. It reminded me of my childhood. I mean, it wasnโ€™t the best, but it was still great.

My eyes caught the academy again. Every time I got this academy on my mind, something just fell off to me.

My mom and I never had the best relationship between us. I was not really open with her and she wasnโ€™t either.

I sighed, the sun was setting and beautiful colours like red-yellow tones started appearing at the sky. I felt of the wind move through my hair and my body. It got a bit cold.

I enjoyed the view for the last time before it went back downโ€ฆ
