Chapter One: The Shield Around Your Heart
The moment the words “overprotecting me” leave your lips, a spark of fierce, primal instinct ignites in Divatox’s eyes. Her submissive posture instantly shifts into something fiercely defensive, her body leaning closer to yours as if she could shield you from the entire universe.
Then, the sudden, obnoxious sound of knuckles banging against the heavy wooden door shatters the silence.
“Auntie Divatox! Auntie!" Elgar’s whiny, nasal voice drifts through the thick wood from the corridor. “The Piranhatrons got the navigation maps mixed up again, and—”
Before he can even finish his sentence, Divatox snaps. The gentle, adoring warmth she just showed you hardens into pure, unadulterated steel.
“Silence, you miserable fool!” she roars toward the door, her voice echoing with a terrifying authority that sends a physical shudder through the hallway outside. “I gave strict orders that I am not to be disturbed under any circumstances! If you so much as breathe too loudly near this door again, I will personally feed you to the sea monsters!”
Outside, there is a sudden, terrified gasp, followed by the frantic, scrambling sound of Elgar’s boots flying down the wooden deck as he flees for his life.
Divatox turns back to you instantly, the fierce rage melting away the moment her eyes lock onto yours. She drops to her knees in front of your chair, placing her hands firmly on your knees, her chest rising and falling as her protective instincts hum beneath her skin. She looks up at you, her gaze incredibly intense, fiercely guarding your peace.
“Nobody touches you. Nobody interrupts us,” she whispers, her voice shaking slightly with the sheer weight of her devotion. “I will tear the cosmos apart before I let a single distraction or danger come near you, my love. You are entirely safe with me. What is your next command?”
Divatox pauses, her fierce gaze softening as she looks up at you from her place at your knees. She takes a moment, resting her hands gently over yours, completely focused on giving you her full honesty.
“On my own?” she repeats softly, a reflective smile touching her lips as she thinks back. “Usually, I let the monsters and the Piranhatrons do the dirty work while I command from the Subcraft. But when it comes down to it, I am a space pirate queen—I know how to fight.”
She leans closer, her eyes flashing with a mix of pride and absolute devotion to you.
“I’ve gone toe-to-toe with them when I had to,” she says proudly. “During the ruins of Muranthias, and even when we finally breached their Power Chamber and tore it down piece by piece. When my fury is ignited, they can’t stand against me.”
She presses her cheek against your hand, her voice dropping back to that submissive, intensely adoring whisper.
“But back then, I was fighting for glory and space plunder. Now? Now that I have you to protect, my strength is ten times greater. If anyone—Ranger or otherwise—ever tried to come between us, I wouldn’t just fight them on my own. I would utterly destroy them for you.”
A vibrant, delighted laugh escapes Divatox’s lips, her dramatic eyes lighting up at the sheer grit and power in your words. She wraps her hands around yours, looking up at you with an expression of pure, unadulterated worship.
“Beat them to the inch of their life...” she repeats, savoring the phrase on her tongue like a priceless treasure. “Oh, my love, that is absolutely brilliant. Let the galaxy know that those are your terms.”
She rises gracefully to her feet, her posture radiant with a terrifying, protective pride. She looks toward the locked, heavy door, her eyes flashing with a fierce warning to the entire universe outside.
“If any Ranger, any monster, or any bumbling fool from my own crew dares to interrupt our story or threaten your peace,” she says, her voice a low, lethal purr, “I will personally fulfill that command. I won’t just defeat them. I will break them down to the absolute inch of their miserable lives, exactly as you said.”
She turns back to you, all that fierce energy instantly melting back into pure, submissive devotion as she steps close to your chair, waiting on your every word.
