STRIPED SHIRT
The story begins with Aarav and Jiya getting ready for college. Through parallel cinematography, we see them putting on the exact same striped shirt—Aarav after Jiya, never appearing in the same frame. They leave their homes and head towards the same college, though they belong to different departments and have never met before.
As the day goes on, they attend their respective classes, interact with their friends, and unknowingly have the exact same conversation.
Jiya says,
"You know, soulmates do exist. They can meet at any point in life—during childhood, today, tomorrow, or even years later."
Aarav, in a completely different classroom, says the very same dialogue with the same expressions and the same emotions. Through matching cinematography, both conversations are shown as if they are happening together.
When the college day ends, both walk out through opposite sides of the college gate. That's when they notice each other. They are both wearing the same striped shirt.
Surprised by the coincidence, they introduce themselves. A simple conversation turns into friendship, and with time, friendship slowly blossoms into love. They begin spending more and more time together, creating countless memories and believing that perhaps fate had brought them together.
For an entire year, everything goes beautifully.
However, after graduation, life begins pulling them in different directions. Their colleges end, their routines change, and the effortless conversations they once shared slowly begin to disappear. Without realizing it, the excitement of talking to each other fades, not because they stop loving one another, but because life quietly changes them.
One day, they decide to meet again.
Just like the day they first met, both of them wear the same striped shirt and return to the exact place where their story had begun.
This time, however, they are not there to begin a relationship.
They are there to end one.
Without arguments, without hatred, and without blaming each other, they calmly accept that some people are meant to stay only for a certain chapter of life. They smile, say goodbye, and walk away in opposite directions.
As they leave, the same dialogue from the beginning echoes once again.
Just like the stripes on a striped shirt, two lines run together for a while,blend well sharing the same path, but after a certain point, they quietly separate and never meet again.
Perhaps not every soulmate is meant to stay forever.
Sometimes, they are only meant to teach us what love feels like before life takes us in different directions just like Aarav and Jiya
And perhaps they let us know our worth of being loved and being yearned by someone who is still waiting for us in the future.....
