Chapter 1: Savior of the Previous Era!?
St. Freya Academy.
Weekend, at the Valkyrie dormitory.
“Mei~~~”
“I don’t know how to do this problem!”
“I just can’t do it~~~”
Kiana looked at the homework on her desk in agony.
She couldn’t understand why, after becoming a Valkyrie, she still had to endure the torture of exams. If she had the energy for this, she’d rather go kill a few more Honkai Beasts.
Mei smiled. “Then take a break, Kiana.”
“Stupid Kiana, you’re being too loud. You’ve broken Bronya’s train of thought; now she can’t finish this problem either.”
Fu Hua adjusted her red-rimmed glasses. “Kiana, it seems you need another private tutoring session.”
Kiana’s face darkened.
“Nooo! Not the class monitor!”
Just then, a chime rang out from the void. The four Valkyries looked up simultaneously. Above the dormitory, a white light screen appeared.
Mei: “Kiana, what is that?”
“Don’t be afraid, Sister Mei. Bronya will protect you.”
Mei gave a soft nod of agreement.
On the side, Kiana was annoyed. Trying to win favor, are we?
“Mei, get behind me.”
Regardless of whether Mei wanted to or not, Kiana pulled her back.
Fu Hua frowned as she looked at the white light screen. “There seems to be text appearing.”
The three of them looked over together. Indeed, lines of text were emerging on the screen.
And this scene was not just happening in their dormitory.
In Theresa’s office, Theresa and Himeko were chatting when they were interrupted by the chime. Looking at the screen above their heads, they exchanged a confused glance.
“Himeko, get ready for combat.”
“Theresa, do you know what this is?”
Theresa shook her head. “I don’t, but being ready for a fight is never the wrong move.”
Himeko agreed.
At Schicksal Headquarters, Otto watched the screen in his lab. Durandal and Rita were there too.
“Bishop Otto, have you figured out what this is? It looks quite interesting.”
“I don’t know. I’ve never seen anything like it. Rita, what about you?”
Durandal looked at Rita, who simply shook her head blankly. The three of them watched the screen warily.
Before the Second Eruption, in a quiet room:
“Mr. Siegfried, please get behind me. I will protect you no matter what happens.”
Cecilia shielded her husband, Siegfried, looking at the screen with intense vigilance.
Siegfried stepped forward, blocking Cecilia instead. “I should be the one protecting you. And... our child...”
Siegfried looked at Cecilia’s slightly bulging belly with a touch of tenderness in his eyes.
“Siegfried, look... text is appearing...”
...
In the Previous Era, at MOTH Headquarters:
The Thirteen Flame-Chasers were on high alert as they watched the screen in the meeting room.
“MEI, is this a new weapon you’ve developed to deal with the Herrschers?”
To Kevin’s question, Dr. MEI shook her head.
Mobius rested her chin on one hand with an interested expression. “This looks rather fun.”
Griseo: “It’s such a white canvas. Can I paint something on it?”
Hua: “Something feels strange about this...”
Elysia: “Oh my~ it seems like something interesting is about to happen.”
Hua: “Text is appearing.”
Kalpas: “Words...”
On the pure white screen, segments of text began to emerge. When they saw the words, the other twelve Flame-Chasers and Dr. MEI all instinctively looked at Kevin. On Kevin’s ice-cold face, a slight flicker of emotion appeared.
[Kevin Kaslana.]
[Leader of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers of MOTH, the anti-Honkai organization under the UN of the Previous Era. Ranked I, holding the Signet of Deliverance.]
[Ancestor of the Kaslana family, the strongest protector of humanity, and the person closest to MOTH’s ultimate goal. Recognized by all as a ‘Hero.’ The world firmly believed that he would eventually lead humanity to victory over the Honkai.]
Behind the text, a handsome personal photo of Kevin was displayed. With flowing white hair and azure eyes, wearing a black and white cloak and holding his strongest weapon, the Judgment of Shamash.
Who wouldn’t be mesmerized by that?
Back at the Valkyrie dormitory:
“Kaslana?”
The Trio and Fu Hua looked at the introduction.
“Kiana, do you know this person? It says he’s the ancestor of the Kaslana familyyour forefather.”
Mei looked at Kiana blankly. Kiana shook her head.
“I don’t know. My idiot dad might know...”
While Mei was focused on Kiana, Kiana was looking at other things. Or rather, things she didn’t understand. (Typical paramecium...)
“Previous Era? Monitor, do you know what that means?”
In Kiana’s eyes, Fu Hua was knowledgeable and must know. Unfortunately, Fu Hua shook her head.
Mei also shook her head woodenly.
Bronya offered her guess: “If I’m not mistaken, it means there was another civilization before ours that fought the Honkai. Unfortunately, they failed.”
“How do you know they failed?” Kiana asked curiously.
“Stupid Kiana, if they had succeeded, it wouldn’t be called the ‘Previous Era,’ and we wouldn’t have to keep fighting the Honkai.”
Mei understood. Fu Hua understood. Kiana’s small head was filled with big confusion.
“Huh? Why...”
