In search the wind
A thick fog rose, and from it came a gaze the color of sunset. A massive town stretched out before him.
The inhabitants whispered to the wind, but our protagonist only had one goal in mind.
Behind that mysterious town was one of the most secure facilities in the entire country. A place that housed only the most twisted minds.
His target was in that asylum. At the gates, guards stood watch, but he was prepared. He wasn’t just any man. He was a noble of the highest rank.
The guards didn’t even ask questions. They just opened the gate and let him in. And no wonder. His appearance was anything but ordinary: hair red as flames and a gaze sharp as a hawk’s.
He went straight to the director’s office to talk about the patient he’d come for.
Director: Good evening, Lord Adrian. What an honor to have someone of your presence visit this humble containment center called a hospital.
You don’t meet a scarlet dragon every day.
Adrian: Whatever. You know who I’m here for. Give me the keys.
Director: Very well. Cell 676. Here you go.
Down those halls filled with screams and pleas, he walked calmly toward the mysterious cell.
That man was the only one who wasn’t screaming. He never begged.
And not only that. The moment the cell opened, that guy had a huge grin on his face.
Laughing, he started to talk.
Guy: No way, dude. Again?
Every time you have a problem you come looking for me. You even threw me into a damn insane asylum just so I’d leave you alone.
Adrian: You’re the best doctor I know. And besides, you’re a damn good bodyguard.
Guy: Hell no I’m not working for you again. I’m retired, bro. Understand that.
For drinks or partying, to hear your problems? Sure, we’re brothers. But for your supernatural cases? Go do it yourself or find some other poor bastard.
Adrian: I have a girl in a carriage. We’ll be working for her.
Guy: You should’ve said that sooner, you lazy ass. Let’s go.
Inside his head, Adrian thought: _The fact that this guy is the only one on my intellectual level is bullshit._
Guy: I heard you, man. You wish you had my brains. Ask the author if you don’t believe me.
Adrian: What author?
Don’t start with your nonsense. You have that intelligence because you studied in my house. I gave you an easy life. Your mind is only on par with mine.
What that noble didn’t know was that he was light years behind that doctor’s intelligence. Because he was the only one who could break the fourth wall and know what was on the other side. For now.
Guy: For now? Are you gonna make some other dumbass hear me or what, you prick?
Well, at that moment they headed to the carriage where a beautiful lady was waiting.
Guy: Don’t change the subject, dude. Damn, she’s hot.
Her hair was silver like moonlight reflected on the purest water.
Her body was an immeasurable work of art, and her gaze was the sweetest thing that guy had ever seen.
Right then, both of them got into the carriage, which started moving away from that eerie place.
Adrian: Princess, this is Jhont Air Wolf. The best swordsman in this region and an excellent doctor.
Jhont: Hey, do you remember that I’m an anarchist?
Princess: It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lord Jhont.
If you don’t mind, could you explain what an anarchist is?
Jhont: Well, sweetheart, it means I’d shove a car up your father’s ass.
Adrian: You son of a bitch. Don’t start.
Adrian took out some powder that knocked the princess out cold.
Once she woke up, he introduced the guy again. This time the guy just kept his mouth shut.
Princess: Tell me, has your companion explained your job to you?
Jhont: Not really. For now all I know is that your gaze has reached my heart.
The princess blushed and stared into his eyes, not knowing what to say.
Adrian: Forgive him, princess. He’s not used to high society.
Our job is to escort you to the castle.
Jhont: Thank god, a normal job. For these you can call me anytime.
Adrian: Well, we also have to investigate something. A strange creature that’s been following the princess.
Jhont: It’s probably a perverted monkey or a boar.
At that moment, outside the carriage window, staring at them was a creature straight out of the worst horror stories. Its skin was torn in strips. From its muscles oozed a strange whitish liquid. Its unhinged gaze was locked on the doctor, who was so shocked he couldn’t move.
Jhont: Son of a bitch, you almost gave me a heart attack. What the hell is that? Why can’t you take a normal case, damn it?
Writer, you son of a bitch, let me retire.
Adrian: It’s not that bad. You’ve dealt with worse monsters…
Jhont: But don’t you get it? These monsters shouldn’t exist, man.
Princess: It’s my fault. It’s been following me since my best guard died protecting me.
Adrian: I think that monster is obsessed with this girl. Why don’t you get out and deal with it?
Jhont: You go do it, you ballsy... Sorry, my lady. Look, this gentleman here is a great fighter. Even better than me. That’s why I was surprised he came looking for me.
Adrian: Your damn mother, get out there now, you idiot.
With a kick, he threw the doctor out of the carriage, ending the conversation.
But Jhont saw something insane. The monster walked up to him and stood at his side, staring at a thick cloud of dust. He hadn’t noticed it until now, but that cloud was moving forward.
Jhont: What the hell is that?
Looking at the monster, he saw it point with a sword toward that thick mass.
Jhont already knew what it was, but he ignored it and got ready to see what that dust cloud was.
Little by little, thousands of monsters and strange creatures came into view, all trying to reach that carriage. Jhont knocked out the creature next to him to take its sword, said a few last words, and charged at that horde of monsters.
Jhont: Bravery is often mistaken for madness when you’re in love.
Thousands of teeth. Thousands of claws. Thousands of weapons. And not one of them touched that prodigious swordsman. It took him mere seconds to wipe out all those monsters.
The dust cleared in seconds, revealing something even more horrifying. As big as it took to crush all the others, a gigantic orc rose up and, swinging a sword, tried to attack our doctor.
At that moment everything went silent. The sword master only whispered something.
Jhont: ...Kaze - Kiri.
A cold wind rose. And just like that, the orc froze.
When it tried to take another step, it was split in a perfect cut. Blood flooded the field. Guts fell like rain. And an earthquake roared as the monster’s body hit the ground.
The princess went stiff, and with an awkward smile, Adrian got off the carriage and ran to Jhont’s side.
A silent field filled with suffocating wind. The tense atmosphere was palpable. Suddenly, the clouds dispersed in a storm of flames.
A dragon rose majestically in the sky. Its eyes filled with rage and resentment locked onto our protagonists.
Adrian: Jhont, a dragon. Get ready.
Jhont nodded without flinching. At that exact moment, Adrian revealed a sword from his staff. A sword so beautiful that not even legends could do it justice.
A crimson flame burst from that sword at the same instant Jhont unleashed a cut so perfect it shone with emerald green light.
In the air they fused to create a golden beam that struck the dragon, leaving its eyes bloodshot.
Suddenly, light ran across the dragon’s entire body. Each scale, dark purple, turned to radiant white. After one last look at our protagonists, it flew away.
Jhont: What the hell was that, bro? A damn dragon. And not just any dragon. A damn dark dragon. Do you know what that is, man?
If we hadn’t purified it, right now we’d be in acid that could corrode every inch of our bodies. Its teeth would crush our bones and turn all our muscles to mush. I don’t think we’d even make it to the acid in its stomach. What the hell is up with this woman?
Jhont and Adrian walked back to the carriage, but along the way Adrian told him something important.
Adrian: Look, how do I say this... That princess summons monsters.
Jhont: No shit, dude. I just saw it with my own eyes. Tell me something I don’t know.
Adrian: Fine. Then...
You’ll have to stay with her alone while I investigate the surroundings and clean up the evidence.
Jhont: No way, man. You’re asking me to deal with a damn summoner. Okay, she’s hot, but she can summon hundred-meter shit in a second.
Adrian: You’re good at distracting. Once we’re in the city, they’ll execute her.
Jhont: Fine. But don’t interrupt. Until I tell you to get in the carriage, you don’t.
Adrian: What the hell is going through your head?
So Jhont went to the carriage where that girl was waiting. With a sweet voice she thanked him for saving her. He sat down and looked her straight in the eyes. He seemed completely hypnotized by her beauty until, smiling, he started to speak.
The girl knew what that man wanted. Her companion was a textbook strategist, and this one wouldn’t be any different.
Princess: If your heart truly beats for me, we can run away together.
Jhont: Without a doubt I would, darling. But wouldn’t you rather talk for a bit under the moonlight?
Your smile is so sweet it’s hard to resist tasting your lips.

The princess’s head was spinning; her trembling legs and a heart racing toward tachycardia made that night unforgettable.
As their lips locked, a world of passion began; moving ever lower, it left the beautiful lady breathless and motionless.
Meanwhile, back with Adrian, called the Red Dragon by some and the Crimson Dragon by others, he was looking for something to incriminate that princess for the mass disappearances of people.
At that moment the monster that had been following the princess knelt before Adrian.
Adrian: Well, looks like you want to ask me something.
In that instant, that monster started writing on the ground something that shocked Adrian.
Right then Jhont arrived with the princess.
Adrian: Looks like this monster is more human than it seems.
Adrian: What’s up, Jhont? Did you already make your move on this beautiful lady?
Jhont: I don’t mess around with a girl who already has a boyfriend, dude.
Suddenly, the monster held out its fist and Jhont bumped it with his.
Adrian: So this guy is your bodyguard, right?
I don’t know why all those monsters are after you, but what I do know is that you can turn humans into monsters. Maybe you wanted to give your beloved more strength so he wouldn’t die, but in exchange you turned him into a monster.
Princess: Well, it all started when everyone found out I could make anyone way stronger than they were. Thousands of soldiers, thieves, and mercenaries started coming. I warned them that those powers had side effects and a joint curse with him: to survive in that form and, above all, not lose their consciousness, they had to forget all the evil in their hearts. A single bit of violence crossing their minds would turn them into monsters.
Adrian: That doesn’t explain why they’re all coming straight for you. Even if they resent you, their mind would disappear and only a regular monster would be left.
Princess: Well, that’s the curse. But for me, if the blessing goes wrong, they can only remember one thing. And word got out among them that the only way to become human again is to kill me.
Jhont: Still, the last thing your boyfriend thought about was protecting you. True love. He didn’t forget you even as a monster.
Adrian: Okay, but who leaked that information? It was probably fake, so it could only have been you or your partner. Simple: they ordered your capture, and hundreds of monsters went after you. For what? You orchestrated this whole plan. You wanted to raze your city, but more than that you wanted to take down the nobility so you could live happily with your lover without it mattering that you were from different social classes. But it looks like something went wrong: the monsters were moving too fast and your lover had to buy you time to find someone to take you to the city under a fake arrest order with your father’s signature, which I assume you forged.
Did I miss anything?
Princess: You got me. So what are you going to do with me now?
Jhont: You should’ve said something sooner, woman. Let’s go take down the whole nobility.
Adrian: I’m nobility, Jhont, and don’t forget you are too. You were the only survivor of your family.
Jhont: You’re ruining the fun.
Your family was killed by a group of alchemists, Adrian, and I’ve only ever seen alchemists working with the nobility.
Adrian: It was a rebel group of alchemists, because the nobility would destroy itself.
Jhont: That’s exactly what I’m wondering.
Jhont grabbed the monster by the head and little by little it returned to its human form.
Adrian: You could’ve done that with the others, don’t you think?
Jhont: I don’t like violence.
Adrian: You think I didn’t try? I had no choice. Those monsters weren’t being controlled by that girl. She only had enough for her lover, and that’s because he was in love.
You think this girl could turn a human into a dragon?
That dragon was real, and the only person from your clan with issues with the nobles is the great Silver Dragon.
She made it look like a dark dragon by cursing herself a little. A curse she would lift once the kingdom was defeated.
The princess had nothing to do with this. She was just a puppet.
Adrian: Impossible. The Silver Dragon... I saw her killed with my own eyes.
Jhont: Yeah, or it was just another strategy, because you didn’t want to betray the nobles. You even denied her research. In your head it didn’t fit that nobles were the ones who killed your family.
Adrian: She was a traitor. I killed her myself. I saw her tears reflected in my eyes. That dragon was summoned by this princess and they’ll hang her for it.
At that moment the bodyguard stepped in, but Jhont calmed him down.
Jhont: Don’t worry, kid. We’ll go to that city, tell them everything we know, and you’ll see it’s just a misunderstanding.
And if not, you’re looking at the best swordsman in this world. I’ll protect you.
Even if that guy could be a lunatic, he always defended the innocent. Something his partner aimed for too, but rarely managed.
Adrian: While we go to the city to hand her in you can do whatever you want. After I sign off that I completed the mission, I’m not responsible anymore.
Jhont: See? He’s a good guy. He just wants to get paid, hahaha.
The couple started laughing and got back into the carriage to head to that city.
Once in the carriage Adrian looked thoughtful, but Jhont started livening up the mood by telling jokes.
Jhont: A German, a Spaniard, and an American went to a deserted island and some cannibals caught them and said: "We have a test. You have to go out there and collect 10 fruits and bring them back or we eat you alive."
The German finds some apples, grabs ten and brings them back. The cannibals tell him: "Now you have to put them up your ass without making a sound, or we kill you." The German screams on the first one and they kill him.
The Spaniard comes back with 10 grapes. He puts them in one by one until there are 2 left, but then he starts laughing hahaha.
And in heaven the German asks him: "Bro, if you only had two left, why did you laugh?" And the Spaniard goes: "Because I saw the American coming with 10 pineapples," hahahaha.
The couple started laughing and in no time they reached the city.
When they arrived there, a heavy feeling could be noticed in the air.
Walking through the streets, Jhont disappeared in an instant.
The couple didn’t even notice until they reached the doors of the courthouse.
Everything looked like a trap. A betrayal by our heroes.
Adrian invited them in, and with their hearts in their throats they had no choice but to go where that noble indicated.
Adrian: Alright, let’s go to that counter.
At the counter a smiling girl asked Adrian for the papers, then stamped one of them. Right after, they handed him a large amount of coins made of the purest gold.
Through a door came the King himself, who walked slowly toward his daughter.
Adrian: I’ve brought your daughter back to you.
King: My daughter is banished from now on. Let the throne do what it wants, I have enough daughters. But this servant, he will suffer the punishment: he will be hanged tomorrow at noon.
There’s no benefit to me in you marrying such a commoner.
You were a famous knight. I made you my daughter’s guard, and this is how you repay me.
Jhont suddenly came in through the doors. Everyone froze.
The King, scared to death, couldn’t even move.
At that moment Jhont started talking:
Jhont: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I disagree that there’s no benefit to you.
I’ve added him to my family. The papers are complete. As of now, this knight is a true noble.
And what greater benefit than making peace with the most dangerous man in this world, who respects neither monarchy nor democracy, only true justice?
I’m sure you wouldn’t want to see me here again, would you?
The King nodded.
Well then, from now on this knight will help anyone who needs help, be they commoners, nobles, or outsiders, and you will not interfere or you’ll be at war with me.
The king had no choice but to accept the marriage between his daughter and that knight, because he knew what a threat that guy was to the nobles.
Adrian and Jhont took the couple to one of their properties and gave it to them on the condition that they help anyone in trouble, just like they had helped them.
They stayed in that town until the wedding was finally held, and then they left.
Adrian: Tell me, why didn’t you kill that king? It would’ve been faster.
Jhont: That king wanted what was best for his daughter and, in fact, he wanted her to marry that knight. Look, I’ve got the head of the one pulling all the strings in the shadows.
Suddenly space distorted and a head appeared in his hands.
Adrian: I seriously don’t know how you figure all this out and when you do these things. It’s like you move between dimensions. I’ve never understood your methods.
Jhont: This guy wanted someone to kill the king to protect the princess. Someone like that knight.
He got lucky finding you. Also, look at the mark tattooed behind his eyes.
Jhont pulled the guy’s eye out of its socket and there was the mark of one of the most important alchemy houses.
Jhont: Ring any bells? I think I did the job for you this time.
Adrian: All the clues pointed to there being an alchemist here, but he was just an apprentice.
Jhont: Well, how about I pick our next adventure? You owe me one.
Adrian: No objections. You won’t take me to weirder places than the ones I take you to.
Jhont: Of course not. We’re going somewhere you’ll like.
Adrian didn’t know what he was doing, because that guy was going to open his eyes in such a way that he would finally understand the truth.
