Clara Miller has enough on her plate. Luke Vance has one mission: protect his orphaned nephew at all costs. Keeping an eight-year-old half-wolf hidden in a human school is difficult enough without discovering that Toby's cheerful third-grade teacher is his fated mate. Now every parent-teacher conference turns into a disaster. Luke accidentally destroys classroom furniture with his impossible strength. Clara is beginning to suspect her intimidating, overdressed guardian has reflexes no ordinary architect should possess. Meanwhile, Toby is doing everything in his power to play matchmaker—whether his stubborn uncle likes it or not. As secrets pile up, pack politics close in, and fate refuses to take no for an answer, Clara and Luke must decide whether love is worth risking two very different worlds. A laugh-out-loud paranormal romantic comedy featuring awkward fated mates, lovable found family, secret identities, slow-burn romance, and enough classroom chaos to make any teacher howl.

About the Characters

About the Characters

Clara Miller

Age: 28

Occupation: Third-grade teacher & secret bestselling paranormal romance author

Kindhearted, organized, and endlessly patient, Clara spends her days helping children succeed and her evenings writing addictive werewolf romance under the pen name Luna Lovelace. She’s practical to a fault and firmly believes real men are far more complicated than fictional alphas... until one enormous guardian walks into parent-teacher conferences and turns her carefully planned life upside down.

Owns more colorful cardigans than formal outfits. Regularly argues with fictional characters when writing. Can calm twenty-eight third graders—but freezes around one very handsome architect. Her elderly cat, Mabel, firmly believes 3:00 a.m. is breakfast time.

Luke (Lucian)

Age: 34

Occupation: Architect, pack protector, reluctant single guardian

Stoic, fiercely protective, and intimidating without trying, Luke has dedicated his life to raising his nephew and keeping him safe from dangerous pack politics. Falling for a human teacher was never part of the plan—especially one who smells like vanilla and somehow makes his inner wolf forget every rule he’s ever lived by.

Has broken multiple pieces of classroom furniture completely by accident. Speaks like every conversation is a legal contract. Owns expensive tailored suits but would rather wear flannel. Thinks “consultative coffee regarding social integration” is a perfectly normal invitation.

Toby

Age: 8

Occupation: Third grader & professional troublemaker

Bright, observant, and much wiser than most adults give him credit for, Toby is determined to have a normal childhood despite hiding a very unusual secret. Once he realizes his uncle has found his mate, he appoints himself Chief Matchmaker—with hilariously disastrous results.

Thinks subtle matchmaking is overrated. Can smell when people are lying... especially Luke. Loves drawing wolves in every school assignment. Believes every adult problem can be solved with coffee.

Chloe Bennett

Age: 29

Occupation: First-grade teacher & best friend

Clara’s sarcastic, fiercely loyal coworker knows all about her secret writing career and has absolutely no intention of letting her ignore the very obvious chemistry with Luke. She provides equal parts encouragement, reality checks, and playful teasing.

Self-appointed president of Clara’s nonexistent dating life. Detects romantic tension faster than a smoke alarm detects fire. Runs almost entirely on coffee and gossip. Has never met a conspiracy theory she couldn’t improve.

Parker

Occupation: Alpha of the Silver Ridge Pack

Powerful, disciplined, and unwavering in his duty, Parker believes the safety of the pack comes before everything else. Luke’s growing attachment to Clara threatens traditions Parker has spent years enforcing.

Has never understood why humans voluntarily attend school meetings. Believes emotions are inefficient. Would absolutely lose an argument with Toby... though he’d never admit it.
