Prologue: Dawn of the golden age
Ten thousand years ago, deep within the caves on the Isle of Ignia, within the fiery core of the world, the first dragons were born.
They were wise creatures, kind of heart, and bound to an ancient, powerful magic. For thousands of years, they remained on this island-a place of breathtaking beauty. The cavern walls lit up the darkness with the kaleidoscope colors of endless gemstones, while the roots of the caves were filled with rich veins of precious metals.
But as wise as the dragons were, their minds were also hungry. They grew lonely in their isolation, craving to know more about the world they lived in.
So one day, they took to the skies and flew across the vast sea, searching for what lay beyond the horizon. There, across the endless waters, they discovered a sweeping, untouched continent-a wild realm waiting in silence. For them, this was the land of new beginnings, and they gave it the name Auridia.
And then came the inhabitants of this realm. First, the dragons created the elves-shaping them to be patient, wise, and bound to the essence of the earth. The elves were meant to be the keepers of balance, created to preserve the harmony of Auridia for generations to come.
Next came mankind. Unlike the patient elves, humans were filled with ambition, curiosity, and a restless drive to create. They were to be the builders and traders of the realm, constructing great cities, forging trade routes, and filling the land with life and commerce.
Then came the orcs. Built to endure the harshest environments, they were strong, resilient, and made to thrive where others would fail-from the sun-scorched savannas to the most unforgiving, barren lands.
Forth came the dwarfs. Deep beneath the surface, within the hollowed caves and roots of the mountains, they thrived. They were master artisans and miners, gifted at uncovering the earth's richest treasures-gold, silver, and precious stones. From the dark depths, they gathered resources to trade and used their unmatched skill to shape raw stone and metal into magnificent creations.
Lastly came the halflings. Though small in stature like the dwarfs, their hearts were full of warmth, kindness, and light. They were created to bring joy, hospitality, and rich harvests to the land. Master farmers and cultivators of the soil, the halflings brought all realms together through the simple pleasures of life-good company, warm laughter, and fine food.
Together with the dragons, the five races joined their unique strengths to build the city of Lithia in the center of their world. Believing war would never touch their shores, the city was not built as a fortress. It was a magnificent citadel of knowledge-towering as high as a mountain, adorned with giant decorative pillars, gold, and shimmering gemstones.
Every dawn, as the first light hit its majestic towers, the city would shine golden in the morning sun. It was a beacon of peace, a place where all could gather, share wisdom, and live in total harmony.
The elves resided within the city as its permanent keepers. To store and preserve the vast wisdom of the dragons, they inscribed thousands of years of knowledge into eternal records deep within its halls. The other races spread across the land, making their homes in the environments where they belonged, from the sun, scorched savannas to the deep roots of the mountains.
For many centuries, all lived in perfect harmony alongside the dragons. But darkness has a way of creeping into even the brightest eras.
It began with a secret. A young, naive dragon spoke to a man about his homeland, describing the Isle of Ignia, where cavern walls sparkled with endless gemstones and deep roots of precious gold and silver lay waiting in the dark. It was meant as a tale of beauty, but in the hearts of mankind, it planted the seeds of greed.
Driven by desire, the leaders of mankind called for a secret council with the heads of the other races. They spoke of riches beyond imagination-treasures far greater than even the dwarfs could mine from their own mountains. While the other races grew tempted by the promise of endless wealth, the elves stood firm.
They refused to betray their creators, warning that Auridia had more than enough resources and that the dragons' home must remain sacred.
Blinded by greed, the alliance of the hungry races hatched a dark plot. They captured the young dragon, intending to force him to reveal the location of Ignia-or use him as leverage against his kind.
But before his spirit could be broken, a brave young female elf discovered the betrayal. Risking everything, she freed the dragon from his chains and led him to safety.
The dragons were heartbroken and shaken to their core. Realizing that peace on Auridia was shattered and fearing future betrayal, they made a grave decision: they would leave the continent forever and retreat to the sanctuary of Ignia, never to return.
Yet, they could not abandon the world to total chaos. Trusting only the young elf who had saved one of their own, the dragons forged a sacred pact with her. Mingling their essence with hers, they placed a single drop of dragon blood into her veins-bestowing upon her a fraction of their ancient magic and the power to enforce peace across the continent.
This sacred gift marked the birth of the first Draconic bloodline.
With that final legacy left behind, the dragons took to the skies, crossing the endless waters back to Ignia, never to return. And with their departure, the golden age came to a bitter end. For without the dragons, peace on Auridia would never be the same again...
