Chapter 3:WHEN LIFE STARTED CHANGING
As I stepped into adulthood, I began to understand that life was not always going to follow the plans I had made as a young girl.
I wanted to work and become independent. I wanted to earn my own money and make decisions about my future. I believed that having a job would give me the freedom and confidence I needed to build the life I imagined.
Eventually, I got opportunities to work, and I was grateful for every one of them. Working taught me responsibility. It taught me how to communicate with different people, how to handle challenges, and how important it was to depend on myself.
But adulthood also came with responsibilities I had never experienced before.
There were times when I felt like I had to be strong even when I didn't know what I was doing. I learned that growing up wasn't simply about getting older. It was about learning how to survive difficult seasons while still holding on to your dreams.
Some experiences made me stronger. Others left wounds I didn't know how to explain.
I began discovering more about myself—what I wanted, what I feared, and the kind of life I hoped to have one day.
I still believed in love. I still believed in family. I still believed that good things could happen to me.
But I didn't yet know how much life was about to teach me.
The girl who had grown up in Biafra was slowly becoming a woman.
And her real journey was only beginning.
