Chapter 1
“Blood! blood!”
Moe moaned as she held her bedsheet tightly and tossed her head around fretfully. She jolted awake,gasping as she suddenly opened her eyes which had turned red and got down from bed.
She smelt blood and she stepped out of bed and walked out of her room. Her parents were both in the living room, watching the TV,when she slowly approached them.
Her mother turned as she noticed a figure beside her,just to widen her eyes as she saw her demonic daughter beside her. Before she could let out a scream,Moe had slashed her with her demonic claws.
Blood dripped out of her mom's hand and she quickly called herself back to her senses. She bit herself,hard till she tasted blood and her eyes slowly turned back to normal.
She fell on her knees as she stared at her mom's injured arm. Her dad quickly ran in to pick up first aid to stop the bleeding. Moe bit her lower lip as her tears flowed down her cheeks.
“It's okay, sweetheart. I'm fine”,Anna, Moe's mom said as she stepped toward her and just when she was about to pull her into her arms,she ran into her room and locked the door.
Moe leaned at the door as tears streamed down her face and slid down until she hit the floor. She feels so much pain, thinking of how she had been hurting her parents.
It all started a week ago when she was having dinner with her parents and she suddenly paused and found herself fighting against something in her. She looked down at her hand and saw her fingers dark and her vision slowly went red.
She approached her parents with a fork but just when she was about to slash them,her cat jumped at her at the moment and she slashed her stomach with her claws and drank her blood.
Her terrified parents didn't know what to do and just locked her to her room. They first thought it's a psychological thing but every doctor kept saying she was fine. Then, they took her to some places and found out that their daughter was cursed and could only be cured by true love.
Her parents feared people finding out that she was a demon,so for her safety they brought her to the village,without letting any of their families know.
“Moe!Moe sweetheart!”Anna, Moe's mom, called as she knocked on her door but Moe refused to open up.
Then,Jake,her dad came back with a first aid kit and brought Anna up.
“Come here, Anna. You are bleeding”,Jake said worriedly while she shook her head.
“No,she…”
“Don't worry,she would be fine”,Jake quickly cut her in and led her to their bedroom.
Moe could hear her parents retreating steps to their bedroom and she stood up and wobbled up to bed. Soon, sleep claimed her and she woke up the next day to stare out of her window but then,she noticed a figure in the room.
She jolted up and saw a young girl who was of her age, smiling widely at her. She quickly ran toward Moe and sat beside her.
“You're finally awake',she said enthusiastically.
“Who…are you?”,Moe asked.
“Oh, I'm sorry for not introducing myself. I'm Krystal; your mom's childhood friend's daughter. It's so nice meeting you,Moe”, Krystal said while Moe just nodded as she avoided her gaze.
“Are you okay”, Krystal asked as she sighted some marks on Moe's left arm and reached for it but just when Krystal was about to touch the dark marks,Moe retreated her hand and pulled the wrist of her pajamas down so as to cover the marks.
Krystal was quick to know that she was sensitive about the mark and she thought of a way to change the awkward moment.
She brought out a rabbit from her back and handed it to Moe,who just stared at it. She finally raised her head up and handed Krystal back the rabbit.
“I don't receive this kind of gift because it won't last 24 hours with me”,Moe said while Krystal smiled.
“I actually brought you this for whatever reason that won't make it last 24 hours with you”, Krystal said while Moe paused as she stared at her.
“You knew?”,she asked while Krystal nodded. Moe looked down at her fingers and Krystal held her hands and said.
“Being a demon does not really make you a demon,Moe. To me,you are just a special one”.
Moe looked up at her but was at a loss for words.
“Your mom said I should keep your company before they arrived,so what should we do first?”, Krystal said while Moe frowned.
“Where did they go?”
“I heard they got a call from the city,so they quickly rushed over”, Krystal said.
Actually, after Jake was done treating Anna's arm. He received a call from his mother,who ordered them to come back home with her granddaughter but Moe's parents are not ready to let her know of Moe's condition,so they decided to go by themselves and come back for Moe.
“Let's go have dinner”, Krystal said, cutting Moe out of her thoughts. She nodded and followed her out and met a woman setting the table. It was Krystal's mom,Clara. She smiled at the children and served them after they settled down.
She was about to sit down too when a phone rang, somewhere in the room. Krystal's mom stood up and walked to the phone and picked it up.
But the next second,her smile faded and she turned her gaze to Moe, who was not eating her food and only had her gaze, outside the window.
The phone dropped from Clara's ear and she staggered back. Her eyes welled up with tears but she quickly wiped it off and forced a smile as she approached the children.
“Is it a call from my parents? Are they almost here?”,Moe asked as Clara sat down beside her. Clara quickly shook her head and placed her hand on her head.
“Your parents would be back soon, okay?”,She said while Moe nodded.
At night, Moe's parents were yet to be back. Moe didn't know why, but she felt something amiss. Her demon in her was giving her a sign of danger but she couldn't figure it out.
Clara was in a room sobbing when the door suddenly yanked open and Moe stepped in. She quickly wiped her teary face but Moe had already seen it. She walked toward her and asked.
“The call…it was from my parents, right?”
“No,it wasn't”,Clara quickly said.
“I can tell you're lying…What happened to my parents?”,Moe asked, raising a brow while Clara bit her lip as her tears flowed down her cheeks again.
She can't hide it from her anymore. She has to speak the truth.
She looked up at Moe and after much hesitation,she finally spoke out.
“Your parents had an accident and…they died”.
Moe staggered back in shock and she fell on her knees. Her lips quivered and she grasped her hair and screamed loudly, letting the demon in her out.
Her hair whipped around her face, and her skin cracked with dark veins. Her nails grew long and her eyes were red like blood.
This is not her anymore. It was her demon!.
