### *Opening Scene: Chapter 1 — _The Inauguration*_
Portaland Organ. January 20th. _Inauguration Day_.
Harkane DeVries stands on the Capitol steps. _Human face_. _Perfect smile_. _Deceptile shadow_ 40 feet long behind him, no matter where the sun is.
_“My fellow Alkayans,”_ he says. Microphones eat it. Screens _bleed_ it. _“The age of heroes is over. The age of _order_ begins.”_
In the crowd: *Bantam Bumeril*. No armor. _Ace of Disks_ in his pocket. A piece of gravel. _Virgo_. *0 inches moved* in the crush of people.
_“I will give you safety,”_ Harkane says. _“I will give you peace. All I ask… is your _pride_.”_
The crowd _cheers_.
Bantam doesn’t.
*Behoba* on his shoulder, *ten stripes*, _stinger clicking_, whispers in his ear. Not words. _Taste_.
_Tastes like Pride_. _Tastes like crown_. _Tastes like _stripe #11_._
Bantam’s hand closes around the gravel. _“Not today,”_ he murmurs. _“Today, the mountain kneels.”_
And for the first time in his life, *Bantam Bumeril gets down on both knees* in the mud.
The people around him _stare_. The cameras _swing_.
Harkane _falters_ mid-speech. _Pride can’t understand kneeling_.
_“What are you doing?”_ a man hisses. _“Stand up! He’ll see you!”_
_“That’s the point,”_ Bantam says. _Humility. First virtue. First blow._
And in the White House bunker, *Lucifer* opens one eye under Crater Lake.
_The €nveloping Sh∆dow has been noticed._
_Now it has to fight._

### *Themes for Book Six*
1. *Virtue isn’t power — it’s _choice_ under pressure*. Anyone can be good when it’s easy. €MP¥RO has to be good when _Harkane_ is President.
2. *Sins are _systems_, not people*. You don’t kill Greed by killing a CEO. You kill it with _Charity_. That’s why this is harder than HORNZ&H∆LOZ.
3. *Behoba’s Arc*: To beat _Gluttony_, Behoba has to _not eat_. A pander shifter refusing a stripe? _That’s Faith_. Stripe #11 will be _Harkane_, but only if Bantam can teach the Void _restraint_.
4. *Juniper’s Return*: She was a victim in Book 5. In Book 6 she’s _Hope_. _Hope isn’t naive_. _Hope is tambourine in doom metal dubstep_. Absurd. Defiant. _Necessary_.
5. *The Final Sin*: _Despair_ = _Bohu_. The Void. Harkane’s master. You don’t punch despair. You _outlast_ it. With _0 inches moved_.
