Chapter 1
Run run, I can’t let them catch up to me if they do I could be in big trouble. I run into my room and pack my bag, grabbing only things that I need. When I’m done I grab my bag and get into my car and pull out of the driveway looking in the rearview mirror a the house that I grew up in.
When I get to the bus station I get a ticket to Florida. My best friend’s family owns a secret cabin out there when I told my friend what was happening to me she offered to let me stay there while I look for somewhere else to stay, and while I’m getting the money.
I get on the bus looking over my shoulder, with every step. I find an empty seat in the back and I sit down and put my bag next to me, letting other people know that they can’t sit with me. The bus starts to go and I see were passing the, NOW LEAVING, sign and I say goodbye to my old life and hello to my new one. My eyes start to feel heavy and I rest my head on the window, then I let the darkness take me over.
I wake up and look at my phone and notice that I’ve been on the bus for over twelve hours now, I look out the window and see palm trees, this tells me that I’m close. Then I see it, the sign that reads, WELCOME TO FLORIDA, I sit up in my seat, because I know I’m not that far away from the bus station.
When the bus comes to a stop I grab my back and get off the bus, I grab a cab and give him the address that my friend gave me. The man drops me off and I pay him and grab my back from the back, watching him while he leaves. When I see him down the street I walk up to the house and open the door, with the key that my friend gave me.
When I walk in I an met with a grand foyer, did I mention that my friend was from a rich family, I grab my bags and bring them up to the room that I was going to be staying in.
I and go into the kitchen and look through the cabinets, “I need to go and get some groceries,” I say closing the fridge. They obviously don’t stay here a lot.
Sighing I call a cab to come and pick me up.
“Where to, Miss,” He asks while I get in.
“The nearest Grocery Store, Pease,” I say, and he nods then starts driving to my destination. We arrive at the grocery store and I realize that it’s not that far from where I’m staying so I decided that I’m going to buy what I need then I’m going to walk home.
I pay the man and then get out and walk into the store. I grab a cart and start walking down the aisle, I grab some milk and some cereal, some eggs, bread, and some things that I could have for a snack and dinner.
While walking down the aisle I feel something bump into my back and grab me. I turned around and didn’t see anyone but I still felt someone grabbing me. I looked down and saw a little kid. He looks up at me and I notice that he is crying.
“Hey what’s wrongs?” I ask pulling him away and bending down to look him in the face.
“I lost my brother.” He said wiping his eyes with the sleeve of his jacket.
“Ok, well where was the last place you saw him?” I ask standing up looking up and down the aisle.
“I don’t know.” He said starting to cry again.
“No No, it’s going to be ok, why don’t we go to the front and wait for your brother to come and find you, ok?” I say when he nods I grab my cart and his hand and we walk to the front of the store.
I buy my groceries and then we go to the front and wait. I wipe his tears away and we wait for his brother to come.
“What’s your name?” I ask him when we sit on the bench.
“Luke,” he said looking at me with puffy red eyes.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Luke I’m Alice,” I say holding my hand out to him, and he grabs it and shakes it, and I notice a tiny smile playing on his lips.
“Luke!” We hear someone shout and we both look in the direction that it came from, I look at the boy and see him smile and run and hug the man, I guess he found his brother, I think while looking at them hugging. I stand up and walk over to them, “Hi,” I say when I get there, they both look at me and my breath is taken away.
“Hi,” The man says looking at me with his mesmerizing blue eyes. “This is the one that waited with me,” Luke says with a smile and pointing at me. When I see him smile this causes me and the man to smile,
“Thank you,” The man says looking back at me with his hand outstretched. “I’m Alice,” I said shaking his hand. He looked at me with a smile and said “Blake.”
“Well, I have to go,” I say smiling back at them and waving, I turn around and grab my groceries. I leave the store and start to walk home.
A couple minutes later I make it back home, I start unlocking the door when I hear someone shout my name. I turn around and see Luke jump out of a car and come running towards me, and gives me a hug. And I look up and see Blake walking towards us.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” Luke said pulling away from me. I smile at him and say “I’m staying here for a couple of months.” I looking at him.
“Well, why don’t you come over and have dinner with us,” Luke said, I looked at Blake and he nodded his head smiling at me. “Sure,” I say and Luke smiles a big smile, and runs off towards his house.
“What time should I be over?” I ask Blake before he turns and leaves. “Sometime around 5,” He said, and I nod and he turns around. I watch him walk off towards his house. Then I unlock my door and walk in. I put the groceries and put them away when I finish I look at the clock and realize that it’s around 4. I have a couple of minutes, I think and run upstairs and grab my towel and walk into the bathroom and take a shower.
When I get out, I wrap the towel around my body and walk out of the bathroom and get dressed. I look at the clock and it’s just a couple of minutes until 5, I grab my phone and key and walk out my door, and start to walk over to Blake and Luke’s house. I get in front of the door and knock on the door.
