"I am feeling like this is a very different book i am accustomed to but like it. It makes me feel like i am right there with mother nature and the kids. I need to get a cigar for this. It is blowing my mind."

Confusing and unclear

"I could only get through three chapters before I had to stop reading. Everything in this story felt like it was trying to explain everything to me as if I was three years old. One chapter is on the new state of Earth. It's all ruined now. You tell us how the planet is, you don't just say "Well this is over here, This is that way and oh, Radiation!" You have to show us. Ironically the name of that chapter is "Should I keep this chapter?" No. Do not keep this chapter. Delete it. Also, "Radiation makes Ghouls" Come on now, Everyone's played Fallout by now. And they live a long time and are immune to heat and cold and are basically ugly superhumans. Yeah, I know where you got that idea. Long story short, while I reading it all I wanted to do was reach in and change everything because of things that made me cringe. I had to stop when Havok had the glass skeleton syndrome. I don't know what happened after that. There is no context to this story and no reason to care about what's going on. It has a cold open with kids in a post apocalypse school and everyone has names that feel like they came out of the dark version of the hippy culture? Come on. I feel as if you don't care about these characters because in three chapters they don't have realistic backgrounds, names or anything. If the environment is as harsh as they say, wouldn't someone with such a severe genetic defect just be killed off? But then again it's really unclear what the setting is supposed to be. I got that the earth is a mess. And that's about it. This is something you really need to show us right off the bat, not gradually. If I have to read six or seven chapters in to begin to understand what is going on, that's time I don't have to waste. Time is important. Yours and mine. Get to the point as fast as you can, describe the world and show us the characters interacting with it. Also, tighten up your writing style. The first chapter is nothing but one big wall of text, no paragraph spaces. The next one is all exposition and this is what made me cringe the most. Then we skip back to more telling....it was about here I quit reading. This story lacks flow and all I wanted to do while reading it was delete large sections and redo it into something that made sense to me and when I do that, I can't read on any further without getting frustrated. Give your characters real names, too. If you keep the names you have, you risk being forced to write to expectations, I can't think of anything worse than that. Someone named havoc is expected to live up to their name and that's all they'll ever be, in a word. Limited and their growth potential is killed before it started."
