Chapter 1: A Peaceful Life I Never Expected
My name is Tina Lee.
I am twenty-nine years old, married to a South Korean man who is several years older than me. Some people might think that age difference matters, but for me, it was never about numbers. It was about the person who stood beside me, the person who understood me, and the person who gave me the kind of happiness I never thought I would have.
Masaya at payapa ang buhay ko ngayon.
A complete opposite of my old life.
Before, my days were filled with chaos, struggles, and endless worries. There were moments when I questioned if I would ever find peace. I spent years fighting battles that nobody else could see, carrying responsibilities that felt too heavy for my shoulders.
But life changes.
Sometimes, the person you least expect becomes the reason why your world finally becomes brighter.
And for me, that person was my husband.
Now, I am living a completely different life. A life that I once only dreamed of having.
Currently, I am staying in Canada with my husband while managing one of my own businesses.
Actually, I do not have just one business.
Over the years, I built several companies and expanded them into different countries. Hindi sa pagyayabang, but I am grateful for everything I have achieved. Every success came from years of hard work, patience, and sacrifices.
Marami kaming properties around the world, but those houses were not simply created for luxury or vacation.
Most people might think having multiple homes means living a life full of leisure.
But for us, those houses have a purpose.
They serve as places where we can stay while checking our businesses in different countries. Instead of treating them as simple vacation houses, we use them as temporary homes whenever we need to personally monitor our branches.
For me, a business is not just about money.
It is about responsibility.
A company is built by many people who trust you. The employees, managers, and customers all become part of its foundation. That is why I always make sure to personally check every branch whenever I have the opportunity.
I believe that a good owner should not only sit behind a desk and receive reports.
A good owner should see everything with their own eyes.
And today, I am currently in Canada.
My purpose?
A surprise visit to one of my bag boutiques.
I wanted to see how everything was going without giving anyone a warning. Sometimes, unexpected visits reveal things that regular reports cannot show.
As soon as I arrived in front of the boutique, the glass doors reflected my appearance.
A simple but elegant outfit, comfortable enough for a business inspection. I was not trying to impress anyone. I simply wanted to look professional while doing my work.
The moment I approached the entrance, the guard immediately opened the door for me.
“Good morning, Madame.”
He greeted me politely with a warm smile.
I smiled back and entered the boutique.
The moment the employees noticed me, the sales ladies and gentlemen immediately walked toward me and greeted me respectfully.
“Good morning, Madame Tina.”
Their voices were full of energy.
I looked around the boutique before turning my attention toward them.
“Good morning,” I greeted them back. “Have you made sure that all guests feel welcomed?”
I always believed that customer service was one of the most important parts of a business. A beautiful product could attract customers, but good treatment would make them return.
“Yes, Madame!” an energetic male voice answered.
The male manager stepped forward with confidence.
“I trained them well. Everyone knows the importance of making every customer comfortable and valued.”
I looked at him and nodded.
“Good. I want to check the back office.”
“Of course, Madame. Right this way.”
The male manager immediately guided me toward the back office.
Behind the beautiful display area was where the real work happened. The officers were carefully handling finances, inventory reports, and other important documents.
As I entered, everyone stood up and greeted me.
I gently raised my hand.
“Please, continue your work. No need to stop because of me.”
They nodded before returning to their responsibilities.
I walked toward my own office inside the boutique and sat down on the chair behind my desk.
The familiar feeling of responsibility immediately returned.
Even though I owned the business, I never wanted my employees to feel pressured by my presence. I wanted them to understand that I was not there to scare them.
I was there to support them.
I placed my bag down and immediately picked up my phone.
Without hesitation, I dialed my husband’s number.
After a few rings, his familiar voice answered.
“Hello, darling?”
A smile naturally appeared on my face.
“I am already inside the bag boutique.”
There was a small pause before he replied.
“I am happy that you are safe, honey. I am already here at the bag factory. Everything is in order. I will be back home this evening.”
I leaned back on my chair while listening to him.
“Alright, darling. I will go home early so I can cook dinner for us.”
His voice immediately became gentle.
“No need to rush, honey. Take your time. But please, do not stress yourself out. And don’t skip your meals, okay?”
I smiled.
Even after all these years, he was still the same.
Always worrying about me.
“Okay, darling. I will. See you later at home. I love you.”
“I love you the most, honey.”
The call ended.
I placed my phone gently on my desk while still smiling.
Sometimes, I still could not believe that this was my life.
I looked at the framed photo sitting on my table.
It was a picture of me and my husband.
Both of us were smiling happily, showing a moment that represented the life we built together.
I touched the frame gently.
I was truly lucky.
Meeting him was one of the greatest blessings God gave me.
After everything I had experienced before, I finally found someone who made me feel safe.
Someone who made me feel loved.
Someone who reminded me that happiness was not impossible.
Knock. Knock.
The sound of someone knocking pulled me away from my thoughts.
“Come in.”
The door opened softly.
A young woman entered while holding a cup of coffee carefully with both hands. She walked toward my desk and placed it down gently.
“Your coffee, Madame. Manager Smith asked me to bring this for you.”
I looked at the cup before looking at her.
“Thank you so much, miss.”
She smiled politely.
“You look new. Are you the newly hired sales lady here?”
She nodded.
“Yes, Madame.”
“I heard that you are a new graduate.”
Her expression became slightly nervous.
“I will do my best, Madame.”
I smiled warmly.
“I know you can.”
I picked up the coffee and took a small sip.
“Everything can be learned. Don’t pressure yourself too much. Being new means you still have many things to discover.”
Her nervous expression slowly disappeared.
“Manager Smith is here to teach you how to sell, and your coworkers are here to help you. Just be patient with yourself.”
She smiled.
“Thank you, Madame.”
After that, she politely bowed before leaving my office.
I watched the door close quietly.
A peaceful life.
That was what I had now.
A loving husband.
A successful business.
A future that looked bright.
But sometimes, life has a strange way of changing everything when you least expect it.
And I never knew that this peaceful chapter of my life was only the beginning of a much bigger story.
