Summary

Nordic Noir with an Aussie twist. Australian Police Superintendent Adam Andersen is transferred to Norway to arrest a serial killer who is using the methods of previous murderers to commit his crimes Who is the Copy Cat serial killer? Superintendent Adam Andersen fresh from his success in arresting a killer in Sydney leads the National Norwegian Police Crime Authority (Kripos) Team in Oslo to track down a serial killer murdering young female police officers. Each crime is committed using the same method of famous serial killers of the past. Is the killer mocking police procedure or trying to discredit Superintendent Andersen? Is the killer a hardened criminal with a deep hatred of the police? Or, someone from within the ranks of the police force itself? Interlinked with the narratives of the murders are accounts of sports events (swimming, cycling, kayaking, running, triathlons) that add another dimension to the tale. Each character has their own story to unfold as the tale progresses. Relationships are confusing, sex is sometimes seen as an end in itself. Trust is hard to gain and easy to lose. The murders take place across Norway and Sweden over a period of almost twelve months until finally, Superintendent Adam Andersen closes the trap and catches the killer.

Chapter 1

Diary. It wasn’t anywhere near as hard as I’d expected. The stupid bitch wanted more money. But I wasn’t having it. I knew where that would lead – to her wanting even more money. People often commented on the size of my hands. My coach called me Coal-Shovels and said I should take up swimming. When I slapped her across both ears her eyes nearly popped out of her head. She looked so funny. Just stared at me in panic. They say it only takes 1300 -1700 Newton metres of torque to break a neck. I know it only took a couple of seconds if that. That was the first. The thrill of watching the lights go out in the eyes told me that it wouldn’t be the last.
