Summary

A Nordic Noir novel with an Aussie twist. Who is the Copy Cat serial killer? Australian Adam Andersen fresh from his success in arresting a murderer who was terrorising children and their parents in the Northern Beaches suburbs of Sydney leads the Norwegian National Police Crime Authority (Kripos) to track down a serial killer murdering young female police officers. Each crime replicates the methods used by famous serial killers of the past. Is the killer mocking police procedure or trying to discredit Superintendent Andersen? Is the killer a hardened criminal, a psychopath with a deep hatred of the police? Or, someone from within the ranks of the police force itself? Or, perhaps, a frustrated wannabe? Like Adam, who tries to get inside the head of the killer, the reader enters the minds of the principal protagonists, together with those of many of the individual characters who make up Adam’s team. Love is in the air. Jealousy rears its head. Relationships are confusing, sex is sometimes seen as an end in itself. Trust is hard to gain and easy to lose. Mistakes are made when pressure mounts.

Frontispiece

Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence – whether much that is glorious – whether all that is profound – does not spring from disease of thought – from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect.”

― Edgar Allan Poe, Complete Tales and Poems
