"For heavens sake, I thought Betty was this guy's wife until I got to the end! L H Davis has a way of drawing the reader in and then quickly flipping the switch to reveal the unexpected. This short "teaser" is like reading the inside jacket cover of a book to preview the contents only to find that someone has torn off the bottom half and you can't finish the preview! Reading this appetizer leaves me hungry for the main course."
