When I Fly Towards You

Summary

The story begins in high school when Su Zaizai, a bubbly and cheerful girl, falls in love at first sight with Zhang Lurang, a tall, academically brilliant, but deeply reserved and cold boy who struggles with low self-esteem due to family comparisons. Determined to get close to him, Zaizai constantly brings warmth, positivity, and unwavering support into Lurang's quiet life. Along the way, they form a close-knit, loyal friend group with their cheerful classmates Jiang Jia, Gu Ran, and Guan Fang, sharing the fun, heartbreaks, and challenges of teenage life. As time goes on, Lurang slowly heals from his insecurities, learns to open up, and falls deeply in love with Zaizai. After high school, they attend the same university, where their relationship officially blossoms. The drama concludes with a happy, heartwarming ending: Lurang becomes a successful engineer, proposes to Zaizai in a touching way, and they eventually get married, fulfilling their youthful promise to spend a lifetime together.

The Boy Under the Rainy Sky

The rain pattered relentlessly against the asphalt, splashing tiny ripples across the ground and filling the heavy morning air with the earthy, soothing scent of petrichor. For Su Zaizai, today was supposed to be anything but ordinary—it marked the official beginning of a brand-new chapter in her life as a high schooler.

However, fate clearly had a different script in mind. Amidst the chaotic morning rush and last-minute scrambling at home, just as she stepped out toward her new school, the weather suddenly turned. Without warning, a heavy downpour unleashed itself from the skies, catching her completely off guard and leaving her stranded without an umbrella.

Pulling her school bag over her head to shield it from the downpour, Zaizai hurried down the sidewalk, desperately searching for shelter. Out of nowhere, a small local convenience store with a modest canopy came into view, and she darted toward it, breathless and damp.

And right there, amidst the small cluster of people waiting out the storm, time seemed to freeze.

She saw him.

He stood quietly, a tall, composed, and effortlessly striking figure. He wore his school uniform with a neatness that commanded attention, carrying a quiet, aloof maturity that naturally kept people at a distance—yet that very air of detachment made him stand out from everyone else. It was Zhang Lurang.

For a brief, suspended moment, Zaizai’s breath caught in her throat. The roar of the falling rain faded into a distant hum, leaving her completely transfixed. A sudden, fluttering heat bloomed in her chest—an inexplicable pull, an instant recognition that needed no words to validate itself.

True to her quirky, spirited nature, though, Zaizai wasn’t one to just stand quietly in a corner and admire from afar. Sensing a moment gifted straight by destiny, she gathered her courage, took a tentative step out of her safe spot, and moved closer to him.

After a moment of tense silence, she tried to strike up a conversation. Her voice faltered slightly, betraying the frantic beating of her heart, but her face wore that signature, endearing smile that could melt ice. Lurang turned his cool, deep gaze toward her—a detached, indifferent look that showed he had zero interest in making small talk with a stranger. With minimal words, he gave a brief response, instinctively maintaining a polite yet impenetrable boundary.

Yet, Zaizai was far from discouraged. To her, those few passing moments in the rain already felt like the most memorable part of her day.

When the rain finally eased and the streets cleared, they parted ways. But destiny wasn't quite done yet; right at the school gates, their paths crossed once more. It was then she discovered he wasn’t just a random boy from the storm, but a senior student at her very school—a boy surrounded by an unapproachable aura of silence.

Sitting at her desk later that morning, opening her brand-new notebook, those fleeting moments from the rainy morning replayed vividly in her mind. With a soft smile, she picked up her pen and scribbled a small note in the margin of her page: A day when even the sky finds an excuse to introduce you to someone unforgettable.

This was only the beginning. The way her heart fluttered told her this journey was going to be long, and if the very first page of her story was this enchanting, the rest of the book was bound to be breathtaking.
