Chapter 1 Shiva
Shiva and the Art of Remaining Still
With age and experience, the way I look at Shiva has deeply changed. Earlier, I thought of Shiva simply as the destroyer, the formidable force who could end everything in a single moment. But over time, I’ve come to realize that Shiva teaches us something far quieter and much more profound than destruction. He teaches us the art of remaining still.
We live in a noisy world that constantly demands our immediate reaction. It tells us to answer back, prove ourselves, fight for our space, explain our actions, and never let anyone hurt us without giving them a piece of our mind. In this relentless hustle, we often end up fighting battles that were never ours to begin with.
Perhaps Shiva’s quietest lesson is that strength isn’t always about conflict. Sometimes, true power is simply staying still while the storm passes through your life. Not every difficult person requires a confrontation, and not every misunderstanding demands a long explanation. Not every insult deserves a response, nor does every broken bond need to be repaired.
There will always be people who refuse to understand you, no matter how patiently you explain. There are those who will never acknowledge the pain they caused, and relationships that end without the closure you hoped for. Sometimes, an apology arrives so late that your heart has already learned to heal without it.
That is where letting go becomes a quiet act of courage. It doesn’t mean accepting that what happened was right; it simply means deciding that what happened to you will not dictate who you become.
Observe without absorbing. Love without losing yourself. Forgive without reopening doors to harm, and release without carrying hatred.
Having a peaceful heart doesn’t mean living a life free of problems. Troubles will arise, plans will change, and people will disappoint us. Peace simply means that you have stopped letting the outside world disturb the sanctuary within you.
That is why boundaries matter. Not everyone deserves access to your inner world or an explanation for your choices. Walking away is rarely a defeat; often, it is the exact moment when you recognize your own self-worth.
Shiva’s stillness is not weakness. It is power without noise, the ability to sit in the middle of chaos without letting the chaos become your identity.
As we grow, we realize that we don’t have to react to everything, win every argument, or carry everyone we love. Sometimes, we simply need to take a deep breath, stand still, and watch the storm pass.
Not every storm comes to destroy us. Some arrive to show us where we need stronger boundaries and what we need to release.
Protect your peace, not because you’ve stopped caring, but because you’ve finally realized that your inner peace is sacred.
Some things in life do not need to be fought, fixed, or carried.
They simply need to be understood and released. 🕉️
