"Inertia"

“Inertia”

“…When it comes to it…will they be okay?”

The sun was bright. The sky was a marvelous texture of different blues melting together in different hues.

The water around me trickled quietly. It was warm.

When I…give time to myself, I hate it. Sitting alone with my thoughts…it makes me worry about Zevor and Kryrella. Why, is a question it seems I’ll never be able to answer.

Zevor has more responsibilities piling on top of him every day. Kryrella gets stronger every day. Just two weeks ago she was able to control her power. If she keeps growing at this pace, I can’t imagine the people who’d be after her, even though she’ll be okay…I don’t trust everyone.

Zevor is…always trying to become someone he can’t. Why would he try to be two things at once? It’s as if he’d rather choose between his responsibilities or hiding his insecurities. Can’t he for one day, slow down and ask me how I’m doing?

…

The wind calmly combed through the trees and the grass followed the flow of the stream.

I glanced around me…nothing but trees and grass and sky in sight.

I took a deep breath, clenched my fist under the warm water, the water bending into my palms, and I released.

The Sphere Of Shades. Is it really needed? No threats have shown up since The War Of The Weeds. Maybe it’s me who is…parched…in a way, kind of ironic for someone drifting away.

…

“Huh…”

I am sorry Zevor, that you have to carry us and the kingdom on your back. Mom would have been…she would have been proud.

Kryrella loves us. She’s adorably precious. I wish I could hold onto her forever. I move my hands to my stomach. I’m scared to wonder where she’d be without me in the future.

I floated down stream. Eyelids-half closed. For a moment…I felt my body disappear from myself. Only sound exists…I don’t.

…

Clouds.

Clouds are a perfect representation of false freedom. They fly freely wherever they please- but they are still bound. Zevor is much like that.

I guess when I think of you Zevor, I imagine you as a cloud, moving fast-always wanting to go somewhere, join others-be a part of something- make a way for yourself rather than be pathed one. I admire that aspect of you; you should treasure it.

I look ahead of me.

I am a river. Moving where you all have already made a way for me. It should be easy but… it’s not. I carry much too. I’ve always been there for him... I want the same…I want…

I opened my jaw, contemplating saying it out loud. My eyes fully open and… predictable.

I…

…

I swallowed…

You. Zevor. “It is always me carrying too much for you and while I never say it…I still expect you to ask.”

My lips shake. “Whatever.” I suppose, maybe water is the one moving forward. What reason does it have to ask the clouds permission to do so?

My body slowly came around a gentle bend. My body, swaying side to side.

I am…thinking about this too much. I just need to stop and…think?…keep moving?…ugh…predictable. Of course I’m going to keep moving.

I’m moving for her-

For him.

“Hi!” I turned my head, the water parting as I did. Kryrella waved at me and smiled. Zevor sat next to her, smiling too.

I stared at them.

I felt a tug at my chest.

The water felt smooth on my skin.

I pushed my arms closer in their direction. As I made it closer to the grassy edge of the stream, I stood up and stepped out of the water.

The water’s arms fell off of me and whaled, begging me not to get out.

But I did…

Predictable I guess.
