He kept a cap in his bag in case he needed it.
Fred looked around and made sure no one saw him before he put the cap back on.
“Excuse me, but who are you?” asked the host.
“I’m Batman,” he told her.
“But you’re just wearing black,” reasoned the redhead.
“So?”
“Batman wears a suit.”
“I don’t follow.”
“NO, like a phys-ed suit.”
“Like a workout suit?”
“Yes.” But then she paused. “With a cape and everything.”
“I left my cape at home,” said Fred cheekily.
“What about your symbol?”
“WHAT symbol?”
“The BAT SYMBOL.”
“I’m not Batman,” mused Fred.
“Then why in GOD’S HOLY NAME, DID YOU CALL YOURSELF BATMAN?!” said the girl in exasperation.
“Because he’s my enemy.”
And that’s when Fred left the room.
The girl stared at him, curious, shy, and a bit scared. It was Halloween and the boy in black didn’t fit in with the rest of the D.C. party cast members. He wouldn’t because he was no member of the D.C. Universe. He was the Black Raven.
