In a world where cruelty is justified by necessity, what does it truly mean to live? Ren has never believed that life is something to be grateful for. Born into the unforgiving slums of a kingdom where wealth determines worth and power dictates justice, he has learned that kindness is a luxury few can afford. To Ren, the world is a cruel, indifferent place, and surviving another day is rarely worth celebrating. But when an unexpected encounter offers him something he's never truly known, a place to belong, he begins to discover that life might hold more than suffering. For the first time, he finds people worth protecting, memories worth cherishing, and a future he might actually want to see. Unfortunately, the world has never been particularly kind to those who dare to hope. In a realm of ancient gods, monstrous creatures, mysterious Trials, and extraordinary magic, Ren is an ordinary boy surrounded by powers far beyond his understanding. As he journeys through a world that seems determined to take everything from him, he must confront not only its cruelty, but the darkness growing within himself. Yet somewhere between loss and survival, something begins to change. Friendships are formed. Bonds are tested. And a boy who once saw no reason to live slowly discovers that the smallest moments of happiness can become the most precious things in the world.
