Chapter One: The nightmare begins

"When the match struck the flames rose. Destroying not only the hate and sorrow but the regrets"

'Is it really that bad? That's the only thought that went through my head as the meeting went on. The meeting was of all the leaders. Yeah I'm not a leader but my older brother is. You have to be 18 to be a Leader and I am only 17...well for another week at least. I should probably tell you a bit about my kin, so your not so confused right? So it is January 1st. We don't keep track of the year since we would have to start all over. You see there was a big disaster 25 years ago that whipped out most of the population. There was 20 or so people left and they built a new land and a new government. "The land of dreams" That's what we were brought up as. My area has the strongest people who rule, the captains the warriors and the medics. My brother and I are warriors. We have been trained since we were old enough to stand. This meeting is about taking over a new land. I am to be the new commander since i'll be 18 when we head out.

"Ace?" "Yes Sir?" I answered the mayor. He was a tall man maybe 6 ft 1? He had jet black hair that was cut short and professional. He was one of the survivors so he knows more about what was out there. He is also my father. "You will be in charge so it should be your top concern to work out and train" He said. Nice prep talk dad... He has never really been much of a father. After all I did gain most of my scars from him. "Jay train with Ace so he can learn some more tactics" "Yes Sir" Jay answered cringing. Jay hated him. I don't think Hate is even the right word for his feelings. The meeting went on for about and hour longer. The talk about food and supplies and children. Nothing was relevant to me. Except one thing. During the take over there might be fighting... we have never had a fight so it might be fun. "This meeting is now over! Jay, Ace stay after please" our father said. Jay sighed and I winced. 'This better be quick' Jay and I walked over "What did you need father?" I asked before Jay could speak. "Why are you trying so hard? Are you really that scared of me?" He asked I cringed and took Jay's hand before he could do anything "Well yeah you are an Asshole" I said with a straight face. They both looked at me in shock. "What is it really that much of a surprise I'm saying whats on my mind?!" I was starting to get mad now.

Jay's mouth was gaping open and my father was...Smirking. I saw that and flinched. I just earned myself a beating. Jay must have seen me flinch because he squeezed my hand. Letting me know he was here. "Ace come with me, Jay go to your room."

Jay whimpered a tad bit no wanting to leave but knowing he would only make it worse. "Come to my room afterwards" Jay whispered as he left. The room felt 20X colder when Jay left. Left me with this bastard... "Come Ace~"

'God he's doing it somewhere else?!' I started to panic as we walked past Jay's door which was open I looked at him and he looked at me with that 'what?' look. "Where are we going Father?" I asked still in Jay's hearing zone. "The Basement~" I heard Jay gasp and my father chuckled a bit. "What's in the basement?" I asked, and my father smirked more. "You'll see Ace my boy." I don't trust this... Nor should I. When we got to the basement's door I could tell there was nothing good to come. The door was rusted steel that locked from the outside. It was taller than me and I was tall. "Father?" I said my voice kinda shaky. "Scared Yet?" He said turning to me smirking. His eyes filled with blood lust. 'God help me now'...
