Summary

Vincent Christopher, when was asked a favour from Mathew Jackson, was not able to decline him. The offer was to marry his daughter, beautiful Amelia. But his heart always belonged to his Fairy. “You can’t escape me, Mia. Even if you run thousand miles, you will find me right behind you.” My hands are held by him. His breath fanned lightly on the top of my ear. He is standing right behind me. “I didn’t have a plan to run.” I comment back. I truly didn’t have. Maybe the first time, but not now. I know that even if I run thousands and millions of miles, he will be right behind me. Dad has really got me this time. Oh Papa! How do I escape from this mad man?! “But you have a plan to push me away.” I bit my lip thinking what to say. I don’t even need to speak the words. He just knows what I think without me speaking the words out. That scares me the most. “Hmm?” He asks quietly. I exhale a breath and try to free my hands from his hard grip, but it was no use. I give up. “Yes.” I pause for a second. I know he is waiting for me to complete. “Yes, I want to push you away. I don’t like you. You maybe my fiancé, but I don’t like you. I-“ I am cut off as he suddenly turns me around. I gasp as he suddenly lifts me without giving me a second and lifts me by my waist and sits me on the wooden table of his office. “You may not like me, But, you are mine. Remember it."

Chapter 1

Twenty Years Ago

Vincent Christopher’s POV

Like always, the orphanage head, father Luke was harsh again. He has hit me. I put my hand on my forehead as it’s still bleeding lightly which started when he pushed me down and I accidentally hit the floor. I hiss as it hurts. I don’t understand why he is always angry at us. I sigh and slightly press my toes against the ground so that I can swing.

“Hi!” I turn my head to my left to see the owner of the sweet voice. A girl shorter than me is standing there with her brown hair tied into two piglets. She has two chocolates in her hand. She looks shy. She looks rich as well. She must be from the rich street behind the orphanage. I envy the kids there. They have money, they have food and most importantly, they have parents.

“Hi!” My reply was short and I turn my head away from the beautiful girl standing near me. She took a step forward towards me. The only thing missing on her is her wings. She looks like a fairy.

“You got a boo-boo!” Her voice seems as though she is amazed. Her hand reached and touched my forehead where it hurts. My knee is scraped as well, though it was not much. Her hand quickly reached to her pocket and pulled out a small kerchief. After opening the folding of the hand-key, she looks up at me. “Come closer.” I lean in closer as I give in to her command.

She blew air on my forehead. Her mouth formed an O while she does so and I see how her chubby cheeks that are now filled with air got even bigger as she blew air. She is a total fairy. She is so beautiful. Then she sat down and tied the hand-key to my knee. She stands up and smiles at me before offering me one of her chocolates. I take it.

“What is your name?” She asks. Her voice is so melodious.

“Richard.” My reply is short. I quickly open the wrapper of the chocolate. This is the first time I am eating since the last two days. I feel hungry. I take a bit of the chocolate.

“Do you want to know my name Richard?” She asks. I nod my head. She smiles and I see a side tooth of her upper jaw is missing. She is so cute! “It’s Amy.” I frown at her. “You don’t like my name?” She asks looking at the expression on my face.

“No. You look like a fairy. It doesn’t suit you.” Her face fell immediately. I suddenly feel guilty.

“You don’t like my name?” Her eyes are about to get filled with tears. I want to hit myself now. I am the reason she is crying.

“No. I like it. But, can I call you Fairy? It suits you.” She just nods are head slowly. Her face got red as she almost cried because of me.

“Okay. But can we play everyday?” I shook my head no to her question.

“I don’t think so. Our orphanage father, does not allow us to go play everyday.” Her face fell again. I do not want to see her sad. I don’t like it. “We can play every Saturday and Sunday. How about that?” She gave me the huge smile. I kiss her chubby cheek and she blushes.

We slowly became great friends. I meet her everyday in the same park. We play a lot. I like meeting her every weekend. One day while we were playing, I saw a small dark mark on her thigh as her skirt rides up a bit.

“Fay, what is it? You got hurt? Did anyone hurt you?” I can’t help but get anger quickly at the person who has hurt her. I didn’t like the thought of her getting hurt. She smiles at me, then blushes before pulling her skirt down.

“No one has hurt me Rick. It is my birth mark. It is there since I am born. Dad says it’s a luck mark.” She giggles and I smile back. Good. I feel happy that no one has hurt her. She gives me a kiss on the cheek before going away from the slide. I blush. “Rick, after this summer, are you going to start fifth grade?” she asks as we sat on the see-saw.

“Yes and you are going to start your first.” I stated as a matter of fact.

“God, I don’t want to go to school!” She makes an unhappy face. I smile at her. We continue playing. “Vince, we will stay friends for life right?”

“Of course. Why would I leave my only friend?” I question back.

After Three Months

It has been three weeks since I last saw Fay. My Fairy. These three weekends have passed by. I sit on the swing in the park that we always play. It is way past eight in the night and I know that I might get beaten again in the orphanage, but I don’t want to go back. I miss her. Why did she leave suddenly? I feel very hurt that she left without saying goodbye.

“My God!” I hear a man saying and look up to find him running across the park and to the bush. I see something fall on the ground as he walks behind the bush. He hid behind it and looked everywhere before landing his eyes on me. He put his forefinger over his lips. I nod my head. Why is he asking me not to speak?

“Search for him.” I hear another man’s voice and find three men. The one in the middle ordered the other two. “You go this way and you the other.” Both of them nod at him and go. Maybe they are searching for the man hiding behind the bush. The one in the middle comes to me.

“Hey kid! Did you see a man walk here?” Should I say yes? Or should I say no? Who is the right one here? What will they do to him if they catch him?

“No. I didn’t.” I shake my head as I reply. He looks at me for a second before analyzing me. He nods his head.

“Okay.” He stands up and turns around, but again turns back to me. I gulp and look up at him. “Go home kid. It’s too late for you to play.” He says and I nod my head standing up. He moves away and wanders around the park searching for the man behind the bush. I lift my head to meet the gaze of the man behind the bush and find the man still hiding there. His gaze is fixed on the gun landing on the grass.

It must be the thing he dropped earlier. As I walk to the exit of the park, I bend down to pick up the gun to give it to the man. If I give it to him, maybe he might defend himself.

“There he is!” One of the followers of the man said and the man stood up to run. They aimed his guns at him. I don’t know what ticked over in me. Before I know it, I raise the gun and run to the man pulling the trigger to hit the guy who shouted. Everyone looks at me shocked as the bullet went right through his stomach. It must be my luck. The other two were in shock and the man who hid before, pulled me to him.

“Fuck!” He cursed taking the gun out of my hand and shooting the other two right on their heart. I stare at them in shock. I cannot believe I killed someone! I KILLED SOMEONE! I feel tears flowing down my cheeks. What will Fay think of me now? Will she ever speak to me again? How am I ever going to come out of this guilt? The man behind me walked past me and went to see the three bodies lying on the grass.

He went to the two men whom he killed then to the guy I shot. He shot him again. I look at him in fear as he looks back at me. Is she going to kill me.

“I am not going to kill you. Don’t worry.” How does he know what I am thinking? “Come here.” I take slow steps fearing him. My heart is beating in my chest. How can I kill someone?! How can I do it?! I am a murderer! Am I going to go to jail? Will I never see Fairy again? I finally go to him. He kneeled in front of me and held my shoulders.

I stare at him in fear.

“Don’t fear me. What you did today is brave. You are a brave boy.” He pauses for a second. Brave? I killed a man!

“But I killed him!” I cry out loud.

“It’s okay my boy. It’s okay. You have killed a bad man. You killed a man who kills other people. You have done nothing wrong.”

He killed other people?

“You saved my life today son. Where do you live?” I look back him.

“Orphanage.” He pauses again after hearing my answer. He takes a good look at me.

“What are you doing here at the park at this time?”

“I am waiting for my friend. I haven’t met her since a three weeks now.” He nods his head at my response.

“How many days has it been since you ate?” I look down at his question.

“Three.” Father Luke did not allow me to eat as I did not get good grades.

“Fucking orphanages!” He cursed under his breath. “Do you want to come home with me? I will give you food everyday. I will teach you everything. I will give you good clothes and a place to stay.”

I think about it for a minute. Is it okay for me to go with this man? What if he takes me home and kills me there? He might have done it here itself if he wants to. He is saying that I will get good food. But how will I meet Fay if I leave with him?

“What do you say? Come with me.” He says and I look up at him.

“On one condition.” I say and he raises his eye brow.

“Go on.” He says seriously.

“I want to come to this park every weekend.”
