T'was in the Devils taste: 1988
I saw the fortress open wide, it's doors were icy cold, inside I saw a towering man, his eyes full of tales untold.
As I stepped a side from him, what I saw was a barren waste, I asked him 'What had happened here?' He said 'T'was in the Devils taste!'
The land was burnt and scorched by Hell, it's surface dank and bleak, as I watched the ashes floating down not a word my mouth could speak.
My mind cried out 'Lord rescue me, for to stay I must surely die!' In a Flash my lord answered me,'To save you son must I?'
I looked to heaven and made to weep, but my eyes were sore and clear, I turned around to face the doors, my heart stopped cold with fear.
Before me a glowing mountain rose, to my left a burning sun. I looked about to find a friend, but alas saw not the Devil nor anyone.
'My Lord...' I cried, '...you've left me here, to burn and scorch to dust!' My Lord then turned and spoke to me, 'My son to waste away you must.'
Then to my knees I did fall, my soul it began to shake. My Lord had turned away from me, I could see his heart did ache.
As my life did seep from me, I saw that my Lord did shudder. He could not change the rules for me, not me nor any other.
Here I am a lifeless thing, a body which will waste, but my soul harkens to those words, 'T'was in the Devils taste!'
