Despair...
Become dejected and lose confidence, loss of hope, a state of unhappiness and low spirits and the eight deadly sin...
...
At the beginning of time, there were eight main, deadly sins; Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Envy and Despair. Some would think they are demons, lurking in the depths of hell, but no. You could say they are just lost souls that were once human and they got killed by their own sin which made them end up in a place even worse than hell that was monitored by God himself, a place called The eighth square. Something similar to Purgatory, but instead of purifying the sins, God was trying to banish them forever. Because as long as the sins live, the human race will continue sinning and make mistakes over and over again. You see, God never gave humans free will, all humans were supposed to brainlessly follow and worship God and only God, however, Satan had different plans. If God would purify the world from all sins then Satan would die as well and entire Hell would vanish. So, with the last bit of power he had, Satan went to Earth and poisoned eight people with the strongest and most powerful sin in Hell the sin that created Satan himself. As the time went by, the eight slowly started turning their backs on God, each day they became more and more evil until their sins completely corrupted their souls. God saw this when it was already too late to help them, so the only thing he could do was to kill them and send them off in order to stop the sin from spreading, however, that didn’t help at all. Many started sinning with the help of Satan and the power the eight deadly sins were giving him. This angered God, tho he knew he can’t purify the sins nor kill them off that easily, but that didn’t mean it was completely impossible to kill them, or actually banish them forever... God was willing to use his angles and even sacrifice them just to get rid of the sins. A kiss from an angel was all it took to erase them. It was easier for angels to banish the sins because they, just like the sins, were once human. So, just like that, sins started disappearing one by one until only one of them stayed; Wrath; Ira.
Ira fell to his knees, breathing heavily. Another battle he barely managed to survive. Each and every day he was growing more and more hopeless to the point where he almost gave up fighting, yet he didn’t dare to do so. Each time a sin would disappear, others would receive its sign, carved deep into their skin. Seven signs, including his own which is eight, reminded Ira of how brave they fought, it reminded him that he, no matter what should continue fighting in order to revive them all.
“I-Ira...”
A deep voice spoke, interrupting Ira’s thoughts. His expression stayed the same; calm yet cold, even tho he was well aware of the fact that Satan himself was speaking to him. Satan grew weak so he wasn’t as intimidating.
“I think you are well aware that I need all eight of you in order to continue living, am I right?”
Satan spoke again, this time getting a small reaction from Ira in return. He knew Satan is right and that angered him.
“...Who the hell let you in?...”
Asked Ira, at which Satan had to let out a dark chuckle.
“Oh, that...”
In front of Ira appeared a dark and tall figure. Nothing but his red eyes, sharp teeth, and extremely long tongue could be seen on his face. His body was just slender and tall, there weren’t even claws on his hands so again, Satan didn’t look all that intimidating but still, he was a bit frightening. This isn’t Satan’s true form of course if he did transform into his true form he would probably vanish forever.
“My dear angel Lucifer let me in.”
Lucifer... that name was too familiar to Ira... could it be...-
“Yes, the angel that got poisoned when he kissed Invidia.”
Ira wasn’t surprised at all when Satan finished his thought, he is the almighty lord of hell after all. Satan would never tell him how exactly Lucifer got poisoned by Invidia so Ira didn’t even bother to ask that.
“Now, let’s focus on what’s important right now... I’m running out of time Ira. I can revive other sins but only if you help me. After all, you are the only one that has all of their symbols and that’s what I need to bring them back.”
Ira took a quick glance at the symbol of Despair on his palm, just to remind himself that all of this will be worth in the end when he finally reunites with all of them. Ira is even willing to take Satan’s offer even tho he knows there’ll still be a trap behind it. He’ll just have to risk.
“Alright... I accept...”
Those were the only words Satan needed to hear from Ira. A smirk appeared on devils face as he slowly chanted something not even Ira could understand. This gave the sin an uneasy feeling... even though this would also benefit the devil because he would stay alive, Ira still wondered will Satan still attempt to trick him with this contract?
“The contract will be sealed once you, as the last remaining, kill yourself.”
Ira saw this coming. He wasn’t surprised at all by the devil’s words. With the same indifferent expression on his face, Ira watched as Satan formed a long strong rope with the remaining bits of his black magic, carefully tieing it up around Ira’s neck. The sin looked up. He couldn’t see the start of the rope nor what is it tied to so it looked like it was hanging from the foggy sky, which is most likely the case.
Strong pain made Ira let out a deep groan. Ira glanced at his exposed ankle and noticed that Avaritia’s sign was gone. Devil was chanting a spell on a strange language Ira couldn’t understand, tho he could still make out some words like ‘seal’ , ‘contract’ and sins′ names.
As the symbols slowly started disappearing from his body, the pain was getting worse to the point where Ira had to let out a loud painful scream.
“Your own symbol is now all that’s left to be removed... after it’s removed you, together with the other sins, will be reborn as Nefadius.”
Nefadius... half human half sin... Ira never knew that term was actually real. It sounded more like an urban legend like the ones humans have about fairies or werewolves, but it seems it’s real. Somehow, Ira managed to nod in agreement even though he could barely move his head from the rope that was tightly wrapped around his neck.
“I think you’re well aware that there will be few caches regarding our contract, you will eventually find out which ones. So, are you ready, Ira?”
The devil knew Ira too well, and he hated it. He knew that the sin is ready to do anything for his friends, more like his family, and that he was willing to fully accept the agreement even though he doesn’t know the consequences.
“Yes, I am ready. And I fully accept all the consequences that are waiting for me in the future.”
Satan almost seemed amused by Ira’s response or was he maybe amused by how desperately Ira wanted his friends back.
Satan muttered something under his breath and then, everything went black in front of Ira’s eyes.
“See you in another life, Ira.”
