Meeting him

"Alright, the babysitter is going to be here in a few minutes..remember..don't misbehave. The both of you." My dad pointed at me and my little sister, Mya.

My parents were dressed in coats and stood by the door with suitcases that surrounded their feet.

Me and Mya was sitting on the back of the couch, watching them. And them lecturing us.

My parents are travel agents. Before then, they just traveled out of city and maybe even on the border of the states that surrounded us. But now they're traveling all the way on the other side of the country.

They seem to travel alot since their ratings are very high.

And then there was me. Jasmine Walker. I had finally finished high school and is still trying to get myself into a college.

Unfortunately I got rejected from the college I applied to before.

It sucked bad. My best friend, Hannah, tried to reassure me that it happens to everyone sometimes and that I could try again.

Easy for her to say, she's got the people at the college she applied to practically on their knees for her to attend there.

It's highly unfair.

But here I am, a 20 year old still living with my parents. It's sad, but at least I get free food.

Anyways, my dad bent down and grabbed the suitcase under him.

"And you two..no fighting." My mom pointed at both of us. "Please, she's my best friend. Why would we ever fight?" I gave a strained smile. My mom glared at us both.

My dad looked at his watch, "Why isn't he here yet?" He whined. "We're out of time, we'll just have to go." My mom muttered to my dad.

Mya stood next to me with a doll in her hand.

"Okay, the babysitter will be here. We have to go now." My dad said. Me and Mya went up to them and gave them hugs and kisses.

"Bye mommy..!" Mya clung to our mom. "Bye sweetie.." My mom ran her fingers through Mya's hair. My dad opened the door behind him.

"You two be good." My mom said, a slight grin on her face.

"Okay!" Mya squealed. Then my mom shut the door behind her and they were finally...gone.

When the door shut, Mya then took off and ran upstairs.

"Hey! Stop running in this damn house!" I shouted as she stomped upstairs. I rolled my eyes, then went and crashed on the couch. I wonder who this babysitter is. He must be my dad's age right? I hope not.

Probably not. I don't want some old creep wandering around the house and i'm sure my dad doesn't either. Then who it? He has to be my age right?

As I sat there, watching Tv and eating some chips, the doorbell rung. I jumped up from the couch, leaving the chips behind, then opened the door to be met with a tall, brown-haired, glass of water.

He looked up at me,"Oh hi.." He waved.

Whoa, the voice deep too?

I stared at him. He wore a big blacked button coat.

Okay, I know this sounds like some kind of fangirl remark or something, but why is this guy so pretty?? Like, he's prettier than me by a thousand even. Are those his natural eyes?

"My name's Avery." His voice snapped me out of my deep thoughts.

"Oh..sorry. I'm Jasmine." We shook hands. Then, we just stood there. He stared blankly at me, "Uhm..can I come in?" He asked. "Huh? Oh! Right." I opened the door wider and he went in. He looked all around at everything.

"So ma'am, where is your lovely daughters who i'll be babysitting. Though I have to say, you look awfully young to have bore two children already. Are they twins?" He asked.

Embarrassing.

"Haha nononoo my mom and dad just left." I shook my hands.

"Oh...hah sorry.." He scratched the back of his neck.

"..where's the other?" He asked. "Oh Mya? The little snake is upstairs." I pointed above me.

"Mya.." He mumbled, looking away.

I stood there and stared at him. This man was beautiful.
"..anyway so your name is Jasmine? What are you a..high schooler?" He asked, raising his eyebrows. "Graduated. I'm only 20 right now though." I shrugged.
"Oh.." He nodded. I creased my eyebrows, "You seem foreign. Are you..uh..chinese?"

"Korean. But it was a nice try." He side-smiled. "Oh.." I nodded slowly.
Then we both stood there awkwardly for a few agonizing seconds.
"Anyways, should I meet her?" He asked.
"Who? Oh! Mya..right." I went and walked by the stairs.
"Mya!! The babysitter's here!!!" I shouted. "Coming!" Her distant voice shouted back.
I then looked back at Avery, who was staring at me. I gave him a slight smile. Then Mya came running down the stairs with a different doll in her hand. She stared at Avery too.
I don't know what she was thinking but..I know Mya..I can relate.
Avery went up to her and knelt down in front of her. "Hello Mya. I'm Avery. I'll be your babysitter this week." He smiled at her.
She just stared blankly at him. He looked down, "What's this?" He pointed at her doll.
"Oh..this is my babydoll that my mommy gave me." She answered. I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"Really? What's her name..?" He asked.
"Isiah." She responded. "Cool name. Hey, why don't you show me your other babydolls' so I can learn their names, yeah?" He asked. "Okay." She agreed. Then her and Avery went upstairs, he gave a quick wave at me before disappearing. I sighed and lowered my shoulders.
Where in the heck did my dad even find this guy? Like seriously. Hotguys.com?
I've never been physically attracted to an asian before so this is weird. I mean, he didn't really have the solid asian eyes of most i've seen in high school. No, he didn't have monolids. But he looked freaking gorgeous.
That's when I mentally slapped myself. Okay..get yourself together Jasmine.
You need to stop thinking about this and stop fangirling over this dude.
You don't even know him. Chill.
I went back to the couch I was previously on and started to watch Tv again.
Moments later, Avery showed up. "Wow that Mya..she's so smart." He walked to the kitchen.
"Yeah right. A smart alec."
He snorted at my comment. I went and walked to the kitchen with him there. He was making popcorn. I went through the fridge and grabbed a yogurt.

"Well, since i'll be here for a week, it'd be dumb not to get to know you guys right?" He said as his popcorn popped in the microwave. He faced me. "I guess I don't know. You're only here for a week."
"Days can be longer then they seem."
"Hopefully not right?"
"Who knows? I might like it here."
"You're speaking wayy too soon."
"I'm just saying.." He shrugged with that damn smirk on his face.
He took his finished popcorn out and shook it to cool it off.
He stopped and smiled at me, also staring into my soul, "Wanna watch a movie?"
