Ozichi Ekpuru
In creation, God in his infinite wisdom planted specific individuals in certain parts of the world for specific purposes. Such persons live through thick and thin, constant disappointments, miscarriages and endless storm, pursuing such objectives. Sometimes they would be led astray in their quest, and later come back to achieve them wholly and entirely, sometimes partly, leaving a minor part for others to complete or work in co-operation with a team. They are usually rare, with definite sympathies and antipathies, observable when dealing with them from a psychological point of view.
On that memorable day, while some folks were at one end of the compound languishing in the air of lugubriousness over the terrible loss, at the other end, my mother was in labour surrounded by a group of other women. Suddenly, there was the cry of a baby and the accompanying jubilation of women. I was named ‘Ozichi’ (God’s message!). It was a bittersweet day!” “You must be a son of consolation and encouragement,” the child quipped. Inquisitively, he continued, “Does it mean that your passing will mirror a similar pattern?” “I am not supposed to know. Only God knows, and when the day comes, the living will be in a position to tell the story”, he explained.
The above conversation provides a glimpse of the entry into planet earth of an endangered species. His lifetime started from that moment and was filled with events and experiences that provide confirmation to everyone who was acquainted with him that he was extraordinary adventurous and a fearless gem sent to explore the dark side of the world, under a cloak of divine immunity.
Ozichi Ekpuru would have been at the vanguard of measured characters among his peers because his home is a place for so much to learn, ranging from scriptural truths, practical suggestions, and counsel for life, to learn to follow direction, to be balanced with regard to follow trends and to persevere in prayers despite unfavourable circumstances. His father (a priest of God) is a quintessential symbolism of uprightness. He has been a primary influence on the motivation to learn. In his words; “though is stressful and drudgery, do much of your learning in a great burst of passion and enthusiasm.”
It is a known fact that humans are not immune to the irrational nature of mediocrity. It is worst when a conspiring group of few, developed an impulsive feeling against your gentleness. Following a series of threats and recurrent discriminatory attacks, distressing feelings and uncontrollable trauma, as a freshman in the University of Merenge, Ozichi battled early in life with intrusive thoughts that come by way of flashbacks and triggering anxiety. Being very adventurous by nature, he is filled with an inner drive to experiment with anything that comes his way without proper consideration on its effects on his life and others. So he was misinformed and unavoidably found himself in an illicit group as a result of intimidation.
