Summary

Do you love greek Gods? Do you love romance? Do you love cliched cheesiness? Then read this book to satisfy your romantic fantasy appetites! Defying Gods isn't easy. Especially if they're Greek. They are the oldest and the most impossible Gods there ever were. Lavender Summers, the bullied joke of their school, is chosen by Aphrodite. The worst part out of all this? She is supposed to be Hermes Oak's soul mate. Hermes Oak, the one and only, her bully. "How do you know me?" I asked despite myself. I didn't realise I had spoken till the words actually stopped coming from my mouth. "I know you because I kinda made your destiny." I realised she spoke like a normal person but nothing about her seemed like a normal person. "Okay. You can stop freaking me out now. Who are you? Why are you in my head? And if this is a dream, how come I have never seen you before?" "Whoa! Stop with the questions. I feel like you're hitting me with a hammer every time you ask something." she said, completely annoyed by the questions, but I guess I hadn't really given her a chance to explain or something. But most of all is this even real? Completely oblivious to the turmoil inside my head, she looked at me with a bemused expression on her face. "Dude stop! Your thoughts are making me sick! I swear I feel like I'm going on a rollercoaster ride!"

Chapter-1

It was a starry Friday night and my mom, Petunia Summers, was begging me to go out. My mom, even in her forties, was a smart and good looking woman. In her time of our high school, she was the head cheerleader or the cheer captain.

The position she very dearly wanted me to have.

The position I very dearly hated.

I was a very shy girl. I lacked athleticism and was slender but not like thin-thin. I got my looks from my mom and behaviour from my dad, Arthur Summers. He was probably the biggest business tycoon in our State. Well, except maybe, Zeus Oak.

My family’s rival. Whose son happened to be my torturer.

I was as unpopular as a rich girl could be. I don’t know what I had done to piss off the people in our school. But they hated me. They played all sorts of pranks. They called me names. I was practically the joke of the school. Despite of which, I managed to get good grades.

But my mom was never happy with me. She was never even satisfied to begin with. She wanted me to be more outgoing and athletic or at least to be popular.

All I did want was to hide away from people and mind my own business.

She never got that. But my dad did. I never told any one of my parents about what was going on at school or anything in my life.

My dad was the one who supported me every time my mom threw a tantrum for me to start going out. He was the one who ever appreciated my grades. So, obviously, I loved my mom but my dad meant a lot more.

So, yeah, back to the present. My mom was irritating me about going out and how she went out when it was Friday.

So, I just said,” Mom, leave me alone. It’s not happening. I am not going out!”

“Sweetie, look at you. You are so beautiful. Use it honey. Because this is the time to use it. Once you grow old, this won’t be there anymore.” She said.

So, obviously, she called Aria Grey, my only friend and obviously then my best friend, to come and take me out.

I never said ‘no’ to Aria. She was a hella stubborn and would get anything she wanted. She wasn’t as rich as me though. I don’t mean to compare but just for your information. You don’t know her yet, right?

Aria arrived in a hot pink dress and a lot of makeup. My mom and she were kind of closer than my mom and me. She was her adopted daughter.

She announced it was time that I got a makeover or something and she took me to my walk in closer and pushed me in.

I had hundreds of dresses and shoes. But I loaned them to Aria all the time. I didn’t wear them. The only thing I wore was jeans and a tee. For jewellery I had earrings, a simple silver chain gifted by my dad, a simple diamond ring gifted by my mom and a watch. That is all I wore whenever I went out.

Aria plucked and waxed and cleaned to the extent that I couldn’t believe it was my face staring at me in the mirror. Then she did my makeup and gave me the most glittery dress I had in my wardrobe to put on.

When I looked in the mirror, I couldn’t believe what I was looking at.

I looked like a miniature version of my mom. I wanted to wear my glasses but Aria wouldn’t let me. So, I wore green contacts instead to match my dark brown hair which was now let down in soft curls.

I wouldn’t exactly describe myself as beautiful. I was fair with dark brown hair and blue eyes. As I already said, I was slender but had a little bit of curves.

I got my purse put my phone in it and some touch up that Aria begged I should take and a pepper spray in case things got bad. Little did I know that the choice of my shoes would get me in a ditch.
