Chapter 1

It was dark. Really dark. I could only see the flicker of light from my owners television seeping under my doorframe. I looked to my left and found that my little brother was sleeping peacefully, curled up under the blanket. He is one cute pupper, I'd have to say. I'm Fluffy. Your average, everyday doggo with a lot of pure white, fluffy fur. Before you ask, no. I am not called Fluff because I have fluffy fur. I don't know why everyone keeps assuming that. My real name is Sage. Fluff is just my nickname. A pretty good one at that. My little brothers name is Scout. A pretty average dog name if you ask me. At least, that's what everyone has been saying. I don't believe that I am a dog. I'm just a momma's girl. I'm her baby, and that is all there is too it.

I looked back to Scout, his tiny nose was twitching in his sleep. He is so precious. In case you were wondering, my brother is a German shepherd, so he is definitely going to be bigger then me. I'm a toy breed, a Havenese. A little white fluffy one. Scout looks so precious as a puppy. He'll grow up too fast. They all do. The light finally turned off. Mom must have went to bed. I whimpered at the door. I need to get out of this room.

I could hear mom sigh before coming in to open the door. She said something under her breath, but I wasn't paying any attention to that. My mind began wondering back to when I was a younger puppy. I'm only seven months, but I'm a lot bigger then when I was younger. I thought back to the day I was adopted. I don't really think about that day much anymore, it was a sad yet happy day. I lost my siblings, and I probably would never see them again. But, I found my forever home. I met the most amazing human too. She feeds me well. My first day was scary. New environment, no family, no other dogs. I got used to it though, and I couldn't be happier. Except that Scout snores. A lot.

I passed my mother to the backyard door. I wanted to go see if our neighbor dog, Flash was out. I ran to the fence line and stuck my head under the hole me and Scout dug. I barked quietly, trying not to get yelled at by my mom. I sniffed under the fence, trying to get my head all the way under. He wasn't there. I pulled my head back, and made my way around to the side of the house. I explored the flower beds, trying not to get my face muddy. I was looking for a rabbit hole. There was a home of little bunnies in the flowers, I just didn't know exactly where. I overheard mom talking about it, I just haven't had the time to go looking for them without her watching me. When I finally gave up on my search for the bunnies, I made my way back to the door. Only two thoughts crossed my mind. Scout, and how I was planning on coming back to the flowers later.

If I could smile at this moment, I would have. Instead, I flipped out my tongue and licked my mothers ankles. She looked at me with disgust. Oh yeah.... I was covered in mud. Hahaha....ha. I ran past her to my dog bed that was located in the living room. I love staying there mostly. I can watch the kitchen from there. With all the yummy foods! Never mind that, I'll make myself hungry. I was on a mission. I just needed to wait until my mom goes to bed. Then I can escape.

I held in a breath before I saw my mom leave to her bedroom. Perfect. I ran out the doggy door forgetting to check on Scout. He'll be okay. I hope. My journey continued down the road, around the corner, and took a left. I could travel this road with my eyes closed, just being careful of cars though. I don't plan on dying today. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I ran over to the third house on the street, the house I go to normally. The lights were off, a good sign. That must mean they are asleep.
