Chapter 1

Meeting in 10 minutes. I do not want to leave my office and go to the meeting room. Every meeting for me is hell. In the literal sense of the word. Even just to go beyond the cabinet, means to plunge into the ocean of uncontrolled feelings. I could get used to chaos. For all my life, I did not have enough strength to become a part of my own world. I watch a bird flying past, dreaming to fly home from the office. Music, drowning out thoughts and emotions, and a pencil dancing on paper. The main thing is not to remember who I am. The phone reminded me about the meeting. Can I quit? Is money worth the damned torture and nerve? I got up from the chair and headed for the exit.

I came to the meeting first. The chair, at the end of a long table, called to me. To move away from those present, a priority. Though whom do I deceive ?! The chair’s upholstery creaked, causing new attacks of an oppressive headache. Behind the glass wall, an anthill of ever-busy employees running in search of answers. Eric, my boss, entered the meeting room. He smiled slightly and sat down at the head of the table. I know that his smile is a lie. Around him is a black fire, spraying ash around the room. The hissing from the fire, like terrible curses, intensified when Eric looked at me. Eric is furious. The smoke of black energy swam to my side. It touched me, penetrating under the skin. I closed my eyes, trying to mentally repel the poisonous smoke. The skin burned with every cell to which Eric’s fury touched. What had happened? And what should I wait for next?

Stella, the secretary of the company, enveloped in a pink veil, entered the room. She, as always, was hovering in the clouds and, as usual, she was not very interested in meetings. Then came Ethan, Eric’s business partner and second boss. Today he is in a gray-blue fog, which slowly dissipated, as he concentrates on what is happening. Dan and Matthew, lawyers of our firm. With radiant smiles on their faces, they entered the meeting room, as if under stormy applause. The radiance ended on their faces. Dan was surrounded by lightning, which flared brightly at every step. Around Matthew is a sand storm, completely immersing his emotions in the sands. And the last to appear was Rob, an ordinary manager, with a claim to greatness. Hatred, in the form of rotten garbage, was hovering around him. The energy of everyone present, reached out to me, wishing that I understood it. I want to escape from here!

- I will begin! - Eric said, and in the meeting room everyone was instantly silent. The emotions of all stopped abruptly, in anticipation of new bursts. Everyone, except Eric. His rage did not abate.

- There are only three questions under consideration. I’ll start with the most unpleasant.

Eric took out a stack of papers from the blue folder. He gave the documents to Stella, who sat on the right side of the boss.

- Give it to everyone for reference.

Stella, like a butterfly, flew from her chair, and flew around the room, handing out documents to all present. Her energy, sweetly sweet, touched me when the girl brought the documents. I looked at the content. Lawsuit. Our company was sued for copyright infringement. The author of the idea that they are complaining about is me. My hands grew cold. That’s where Eric’s fury comes from. I looked up from the papers and looked at the boss. He watched me like a hungry dog on a piece of meat.

- What are your thoughts about the lawsuit? - without removing from me the cold blue eyes, Eric said. But the appeal did not concern me personally, he wanted to hear the responses to this question from everyone.

- I could not violate someone’s copyrights! - it concerned me, and I wanted to protect myself. - All my ideas are unique, invented by me personally, and drawn by myself personally.

- Well, Taylor. Now I’m not sure that all your ideas are unique. Stels Commercial has proof that the advertising poster we made for United Ocean is absolutely identical to the billboard that they designed for Media Reed Programmer. And they released an advertising billboard two days ahead of us!

The fire around Eric became darker, and through a black veil, lightning bursts, the energy of which was striving towards me. I need to calm him down!

- I do not understand why my idea was at Stels Commercial, but I can figure it out! - I answered calmly, but my heart was racing like a Formula 1 racer. - Eric, you’ve known me for a long time, and you know, as a unique artist of advertising posters. I never failed our company, and even to the contrary, brought it to the top! You know it! Why now do you doubt me?

The fire of Eric began to subside. Did my words have the desired effect?

The boss looked at those present, then at me.

- Maybe you ran out of ideas? I dont know. Good. While there is a plagiarism case, I give you an opportunity to determine how your idea has been utilized by our competitors. There will be no proof of your innocence, and you will be fired!! And all the costs of lawyers I’ll hang on you!

I just nodded in response. I did not go into further discussions of the questions, just as I did not notice the emotions that filled the entire space of the cabinet. To find out who put me up is my priority task.
