Chapter 1: How To Not Avoid Drama
THE WITCH TRIALS
“Don’t do it, Wends,” I beg, holding my leg. The girl takes no notice of me, her grey eyes glaring at him as he glares ahead.
“You did it,” she mutters, her grip on the gun tightening. “You killed her.” Her tone of voice is light, yet there’s something so threatening about it that I can’t move.
And then a click rings out, followed by a loud BANG! and then, there’s only a cry before silence.
When Gloria Rudd and six other are all targeted by a serial killer, they are for themselves. With secrets hanging around the corner, and a mysterious stalker striking at every chance it gets, she and her friends are in for an interesting journey.
I only fully wake up when I crash into a crow.
The thing only CAWKS! and flies away, but it’s not the same with me. There’s an unmistakable ache right in my face, a bird feather slipping down to the ground. I stare dumbly after it while snickers break out from everyone around me.
My face flushes, and instinctively lowering my head, I start to walk faster. Still, I could only make a good difference when it happens.
THUD!
I stop, my heart racing. What just dropped in front of me is a large doll, made to look like me. A yelp escapes my mouth and I step back.
And that’s when I realized that there’s something scampered over it in red paint:
Be careful, Helpnette. Next time, it won’t be a crow.
-Hay
My heart stopped.
There was only one person who called me Helpnette, and I called her Hay. Shay Rollins.
But that was impossible, because she died two years ago.
Everyone was silent around me, before a cop pushed past me, inspecting the voodoo version of me. Noises ring around me, and I’m still stuck in my brain, trying to figure what happened that night - or, specifically, who killed Shay.
Because I was there and lived every second, I was found with her dead body, but I COULD’NT REMEMBER.
